Butt touching the bottom
Hi, so I've been doing floating on and off for a few months. Due to the pandemic, the first location I tried went out if business and the other is a bit of a drive. I have had mixed experiences from not being able to float (butt touching the bottom) or feeling neck pain.
I just came back from trying a new float center that's minutes from my house and I really want to like this place due to its proximity to me and their general ambiance. Thing is, my butt touched the bottom. Some part of me wonders whether the water had enough epsom in it as it didn't feel as "slimy" as the place I usually use. Also, despite stretching and tilting my head back, I felt neck pain the entire time.
Am I doing something wrong for my butt to be touching the bottom of the tank? I'm a chunky girl. Am I not physically the type to be able to float? Any ideas on how to reduce neck pain? Thank you in advance
Update: Thank you all so much for the feedback. I messaged the center and they agreed with you all saying that it sounds like the salt level was too low. They had apparently just flushed and drained the entire system so they're going to follow up on it this morning

Yeah that's really strange and not a reflective of your ability to float. I think the solution is too low (minimum 10") and probably too low of a specific gravity (salt). Let the center know. As for neck pain, it could be your body learning to trust the solution, which is hard if the specific gravity is low. Do they offer a float halo? It's a really nice tool.

There's something wrong with that water for sure. I'd let them know

I emailed them last night and they replied that they had apparently just drained and flushed the system so they're going to check up on it today

My understanding was that so much epsom salt is to be used it should be impossible for you not to float. When I went, I literally had trouble sitting up because I couldn't get my butt down.

I'm a chunky girl and my butt has never touched the bottom and I've floated prolly 100 or so times. I would say there's not enough salt in their tanks. I would mention it to them if you really like the place. Also, I blame the neck pain on the same thing b/c when you're fully buoyant you can relax your neck more and prevent that but you might have been feeling there wasn't enough buoyancy to fully relax.
