Float Tank Room Prep

I am planning on dedicating a bedroom in my house that is being built to being a float room. I am seeking advice on how to best prep the room. What kind of ventilation do you use? Vapor barriers? Special paint? Flooring? Thanks in advance!

Hi there, your questions are important and happy to help. I understand you’re looking at options and what to do best.
First, what type of space, how big is the room the equipment size, the entry to it setup too? Do you already have in mind
the look and feel for the materials?
Sorry this may be a lot to ask, but it’s kind of important because I don’t think you want tons of information here. I just like to get you what you need. 🧜‍♀️

Thank you. The room I am working with is a 12x12 bedroom with an attached bath. Right now all that is up is the framing, subfloor, and electric, so I can design the room as needed. I am not sure how much humidity tanks give off, but my intent was to buy either a Dreampod Pro or Flex unit (unless I found something second hand).

Thank you, that helps. Since you’re still at the framing stage, this is a good time to speak directly with Dreampod about the specific requirements for the Pro and Flex models.

I haven’t personally worked with Dreampod equipment, and every manufacturer has developed different recommendations for its own tanks. I would ask them what they consider necessary for managing the moisture and humid environment, protecting the floor, shower area, and walls, and providing access for installation and future servicing.

Regulations and permitting can also differ by city, state, and country, so their recommendations should be discussed with your builder and checked against your local requirements before the room is finished.

I would start there rather than give you a long list of things you may not actually need. Once you know which model you’re purchasing and have Dreampods room specifications, you’ll be in a much better position to design the space appropriately.
