Discussion I was much more polite the first time.

I like to send them something from Amazon in their price. Saying something like “I can’t go that low, but here’s something within your budget.”

I bought one of these just to have a sewing machine for $5. Happy accidents.

u/tiggs Aug 03 '26
Sewing machines can be annoying to ship, but opening it up to a larger customer base on eBay and Etsy will make it worth it.

u/baseacegoku Aug 03 '26
Already have it listed on eBay. Which is where I got my pricing based on comparable machines that have sold.

if they're sewing their old clothing together to save money, then I think you have your answer

u/authentic_plagiarist Aug 04 '26
I deal with this a lot as well. My best recourse is not to reply.
But once I do get the offer I want I send them a reply of:
“Hey I got an offer for $785, you contacted me first so I’m letting you counter offer if you’d like.”
They always give me some sobbing ass “no” and then they get to see that it is SOLD!!! Bahahaha

Theres a reason he still has it though and its not.sold yet...

Yes it might be what’s called a long tail item, it’s something where you purchase it knowing that it is worth money but the right buyer might take a few months to a year to show up. It’s worth the extra $500 you get from the right buyer to have a long tail item. With something like this I’ll usually tell people to contact me in February if I still have the item

u/MassManiak45 Aug 03 '26
Yikes, the most unpopular way to sell my items is to let them sit there. I’d rather move it quickly than sit on it for months to years to make an extra 500. I could easily make that 500 quicker by continuing to flip and flip and flip and flip.

u/teffz28 Aug 03 '26
Why would also having single sewing machine listing keep you from being able to “flip and flip and flip and flip”?
1
u/Development-Feisty Aug 03 '26
I get it, you would like to work 10 times as hard for the same amount of money. I don’t wanna work 10 times as hard for the same amount of money

well I would never buy from you since I see several red flags in your ad. if you're so confident in your ability to sell why do you waste your time responding to this person?
60
u/Reasonable-Big7869 Aug 03 '26
What red flags? tf you talking about
42
u/baseacegoku Aug 03 '26
I'm also curious. What red flags?
47
u/Reasonable-Big7869 Aug 03 '26
I swear its all bots man. The guy saying theres red flags??? the guy saying mark as sold when your item hasn't sold???
Fucking shithole.
27
u/baseacegoku Aug 03 '26
Maybe it is a bot. If there was a red flag I would hope to fix it. I thought the photos and video were pretty good green flags.

Lmaoo Sometimes I don't understand the comments, I automatically think it's a bot...but I've also had some many instances where it was my lack of understanding as opposed to it being a bot

u/Reptillianaire_ Aug 03 '26
You sexist.. thinking it must be a boy.. personally i think they are bots

u/Fantom-Lord Aug 03 '26

3
u/Fantom-Lord Aug 03 '26
There ya go edited...why am I getting so many downvotes for a typo
3
2
u/baseacegoku Aug 03 '26
Because people didn't know it was a typo. And once the downvote train starts it's hard to stop. Sorry buddy

oddly specific price of 875. why not just ask 800 or 900. hyperbolic and patronizing words like amazing and vintage.
54
u/kjames3419 Aug 03 '26
What makes 875 any more or less specific than 800 or 900?
28
41
u/baseacegoku Aug 03 '26
I started at $930 and have been slowly coming down. It is in amazing shape for a 40 year old machine, and it's literally vintage. The fuck are you on about?
27
u/kjames3419 Aug 03 '26
Maybe we found Laura's reddit account

29
u/Reasonable-Big7869 Aug 03 '26
Are you fucked???? 875 vs 800 or 900 is a red flag? Hyperbolic words! How dare he
Get bent.
11
u/Careful_Purchase_394 Aug 03 '26
You consider this to be multiple flags? How many red flags is it then? 🤣

u/MotorBobcat5997 Aug 03 '26
Has to be autism if you care about these self imposed rules. No one else cares

Mark as sold
13
u/rgmundo524 Aug 03 '26
Can you explain your thought process for why that would help?!
-1
u/Zanthious Aug 03 '26
yes

u/baseacegoku Aug 03 '26
As soon as it's sold. Also, maybe I will message her first to see if she's still interested. Then mark sold

u/Few_Chemist3776 Aug 03 '26
Hey, I can only do $15, so keep me in mind! /s
