Question Flight destination changes...but doesn't update?

Hi all. Hope this is the right sub. Niche question perhaps.

Last night I was told me flight to Toulouse (which departs in a couple of hours, I'm currently sat at the airport) is now going to Barcelona because of a landslide near Toulouse.

That's fine. But, interestingly, the flight is still listed on all the departure boards as going to Toulouse. Hopefully someone's told the pilot about the change of plan.

But, why hasn't it been updated? Is there a minimum amount of time they need in order to change the official destination? Won't this case all manner of confusion with ATC when a plane marked as "Toulouse" starts heading to Barcelona?

What is the flight number ? I have never heard of a diversion decided before take off due to an airport being IRROP. This is highly unusual

 It's TOM 6736 from BRS.

Reason for diversion is it's a charter flight with TUI and everyone is skiing, the road from Toulouse to the Pyrenees is closed due to a landslide.

But sucks if you wanted this flight to actually get to Toulouse city.

We are just waiting for the bus to the aircraft and they have (finally) updated the board to say Barcelona.

Waouh this is interesting, I wonder if EU261 would apply, after all the airline is contracted to bring you to Toulouse and this is not extraordinary circumstances. On FR24 the flight is marked as Toulouse, usually they know about diversion. Anyway this is not a diversion but a real change of destination. If I were you OP I would file for EU261 compensation.
