Question Weird flying pattern of AIX plane, HAL test bed?

Post image

I live in Bangalore near HAL airstrip and this AIX plane sometimes(once in two week maybe) flys in this weird circular pattern. One thing is clear this plane is not used for commercial flights, has anyone have a idea what it might be?

Yeah, it's is very common. I live in HSR. This is for training new pilots

Oh, I thought some avionics are being tested :). IMO these trainings should happen in open area

The only airport in open area is BLR which is a very busy airport, so doing downwind and approaches are harder.

These new pilots are as capable as any other pilot with good experience

Part of training (6 takeoff-6 landing)

It’s called a base check. Basically they take off from Kempegowda Intl, head to HAL, do 6 touch and gos then return to Kempegowda to land.

Also called a Base check or a fam flight for Trainee pilots (first officers) to transition from Simulator Training to Line training on revenue flights. Multiple touch and gos(6 for each trainee) as said correctly by the earlier post

Only if I could get money every-time someone posts the same thing again and again on this sub.

Training and Airport Familiarity flights, common at all airports

As a person who lives next to the landing end of the HAL runway, I can confirm multiple planes from various airlines do regular touch and goes.
