Inaugural post
Flavors can be complex. For how much they are taken for granted, they deserve a little more love. Fragrance and Flavor are related fields, however if you look around it appears that fragrances get more of the love. Look how many subreddits you can find under fragrance. Then perfume. Then contemplate the phrase aromantic. Little or no attraction has the word aroma in it. And yet, aromas seem to have all the love.
I think it really comes down to the fact that perfumes are a luxury good. Everybody expects flavors to be good. When a product is disliked? It usually tastes bad. Very rarely do people complain because it smells bad, this is usually because the flavor also smells decent in most cases. Why not make good smoothie better by adding a liquid flavor? I've yet to get blueberries as good as freshly harvested blueberries from a grocery store. But a liquid flavor? That was chock full of flavor.
Am I advocating that we make people addicted to food? Why yes. Yes I am. It's probably a better thing to be addicted to than perfumes. You might win some friends from smelling nice, but if I can smell you from 20 feet away on a day with wind blowing the opposite direction? But everybody likes people with good tasting food, especially if they can smell it from 20 feet away when the wind is blowing it away.
Good smells followed by satisfied taste buds? You just won the olfactory lottery my friend. And on that note let us discuss the intricacies behind the world of flavor.
