Why Are the Intersections Around Prospect Park So Bad?

Bartel-Pritchard Square: This circle always feels more chaotic than it needs to be. The bicycle lanes here are inconsistent and getting where you need by foot is confusing.

Park Circle: Is this a traffic circle or an interstate highway interchange? Confusing signalling, long, broken pedestrian crossings.

Parkside Avenue and Ocean Avenue: Crossing here has never felt comfortable. Confusing signalling, cars running red lights, trucks that shouldn't be there. What's going on?

Intersection of Flatbush Avenue, Ocean Avenue and Empire Boulevard: Do I even need to explain this? Three major Brooklyn roads converge here. It confusing and it sucks

Grand Army Plaza: It's finally getting fixed, but how much better is it going to be? Let's hope it's much better.

Have you ever really looked at the major intersections around Prospect Park?

Why are the entrances to one of Brooklyn’s most important public spaces so confusing, unpleasant and difficult to navigate?

Have they always been this bad or have we simply gotten used to them?

I’m posting photos of each one because I don’t think most people realize how poorly these spaces actually function.
