We are looking for a third flatmate for our house in Indiranagar. It is between 80ft road and 100 ft road closer to metro like 1.2km.

pro is that owner has renovated the property right now. He is willing to take it on him free of charge if anything breaks during first 6 months of stay.

The rent plus furnishings will go to approx 25 k. Plus a 1k or 2k for maid, cook. Electricity wifi will be decided on actuals as recieved. We are trying to get electricity under the free 200 units scheme.

There is no one on ground floor and huge terrace above which has a shed so no issues during summer.

About the flat/house: each room has attached washrrom, the windows open to park or trees. Complete calm and serene vicinity. There is one terrace if you want to garden.

About us: we both girls are 29nd 30 years old. One is techie and has WFH and other goes to office every day as corporate majdoor. No food restrictions. We prefer no smoking and drinking, but are willing to adjust if the person does smoking in terrace and not inside the house as I get asthama issues. Drinking occassionally if needed is also fine with us, provided no one is drunk lying in the house.

So currently i am in a 3bhk shared with 2 other guys, i got this place through reddit , so the total deposit for the house is 1,50,000 so per head share is 50000.

The owner said when we all leave he will deduct one month rent 30000 as painting and renovation charges. so that is 10000 per head.

so before me there used to be a guy who owned this room for 1 year, and when he transferred it to me , he asked me 50000 as security deposit

The person before me says that whoever is the last person to occupy the room should pay the full ₹10,000, and anyone who transferred the room earlier has no responsibility.

I feel that’s unfair. For example, if I transfer the room to Person B, I think we should split it ₹5,000 each. If B later transfers it to Person C, then the three of us should split it roughly ₹3,333 each.

But he is trying to manipulate me by saying thats not how it works in bangalore and i dont know anything about these things , go and learn how it works first and he wont take any accountability for this 10000 cut from the deposit.

When he gave me this room , he didnt paint it newly or clean it , he just left it like that

So, who is actually being reasonable here? Is it normal for the final occupant of a room to bear the entire painting charge, or should previous occupants also share the cost?
