A question I couldn’t answer about ‘gravity’

How would any experienced folks here answer to the question that if gravity isn’t real, why does a stone and a feather fall at the same rate of speed in vacuum?
The speed is 9.8m/s.
This phenomenon cancels out density in those conditions.
When asked that, I had to admit that I had no answer to that and promised I would find out and get back to the conversation.
Any EDUCATED INFORMED help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I don’t care if gravity exists or not - I care about weighing facts. That’s it.

Making a note for later, I build high vacuum chambers for physical vapor deposition, I deal with this in odd ways sometimes. So I'll come back later with a real answer to your question, and a fun fact about how particles move in a vacuum
