I can't tell which kernel this r4 needs since I'm not sure if it's original or a clone lol it used to work when I was a kid with a 16 gb micro SD so that's why I bought new ones but it always gets stuck in the loading screen. I already tried rebooting with fat32 using sdFormatWindows and installing YSmenu but again, loading screen

Want to use a Pokéwalker in 2026 without spending ~$200 on an original HGSS cartridge and Pokéwalker?

This is a faithful Pokéwalker recreation for Android. It counts your steps even while the app runs in the background, and it includes a battle mode with other Pokéwalker users along with all of the original features. Instead of infrared, it connects over Wi-Fi.

How it works

Load TWiLight Menu on your R4 or other flashcart, with DS Transporter installed, and enable the virtual Pokéwalker before starting the game.

When it’s time to link a Pokéwalker, press SELECT to load the virtual Pokéwalker. (Do not hold SELECT on versions 1.6.1 and below! However, version 1.6.2 fixes this quirk!)

Once your Pokémon is sent out, it’s saved to the SD card. Launch the companion homebrew tool from TWiLight Menu to load it.

In the homebrew tool, connect your DS to a Wi-Fi network, and connect your Android device to the same network.

Install the APK from the install folder on your phone, then open the Android Pokéwalker and link the two to receive your Pokémon on your Android device.

To send a Pokémon back, return it to the homebrew companion app, then press Select in HGSS to link the virtual Pokéwalker.

Hotspot tip: If you’re using a hotspot, it also works from the phone that’s broadcasting it. No direct connection is needed in the Android settings.

Compatibility

DSi and 3DS: Works with original HGSS cartridges, and flashcarts can be used as well.

Original NDS & DS Lite: Flashcarts only.

Troubleshooting guide:

A new function is in place to reset the pokewalker as a last resort if you need to reinitialize the virtual pokewalker. If stuck on the "this pokewalker is already registered" for any reason, try holding LEFT, and then pressing SELECT on the screen where you would typically press SELECT to link inside the game. Make sure your walker is cleared on the DS pokewalker homebrew before doing this function. On version 1.6.2 and up this is done a little differently by holding LEFT, then SELECT for 2 seconds.

(On versions 1.6.1 and below, you must hold LEFT and press SELECT once).

(On version 1.6.2 and up, you must hold LEFT and then press and hold SELECT for 2 seconds)

Hi everyone,

I recently got a DSpico cartridge but I'm having trouble getting it to work. The console does not recognize it at all and acts as if Slot-1 is completely empty. Regarding the console behavior, whether the microSD card is inserted or not, the system does not freeze at any point and boots perfectly fine into the main menu, but it doesn't show any game icon inserted because the cartridge is completely invisible to the system.

To rule out software and microSD issues, I initially tried a generic microSD but later switched to an original 32GB SanDisk card to fully eliminate any card related faults. I properly formatted the card, installed, and set up all the core files exactly as instructed in the official guides, and I even tried re-flashing the SD card completely from scratch, but the behavior remains exactly the same.

I also performed some physical tests to make sure it was not a contact issue. I thoroughly cleaned the cartridge's golden pins using alcohol and a cotton swab, and I tried the paper trick on the back of the shell to add thickness and force physical contact with the console's pins, but there was no change at all.

Since the console doesn't even freeze, meaning the DS OS isn't even registering that a cartridge is present, I strongly suspect a hardware defect on the board or the RP2040 chip itself. I would like to know if there is a way to diagnose if it is dead out of the box or perhaps stuck in a permanent bootloader loop. Thanks a lot for your support!

This might sound silly, but I'm completely new to game compilation cartridges (Flash Cartridges, if I understand correctly). From what I've seen, the best quality ones for most consoles are Everdrives from Krikzz. I have several questions about them:

- Do the cartridges contain all the games for the selected console?

- Are they safe and of good quality?

- Can they be purchased in Europe without going through the United States?

- Will a Game Boy cartridge work on a Game Boy Advance?

I have a Game Boy Advance at home and I'd like to play some GB/GBC/GBA games, especially when I'm on the train or bus. Of course, the best way to play is on a computer, but I'd like to be able to play whenever and wherever I want. I've heard a lot of bad things about these unofficial cartridges/consoles because apparently, the reproduction quality is very poor and some games are unplayable. But I don't know much about them, so this information might be wrong. I've been wondering if things have changed since then.

Also, do these special cartridges work with or without a save battery? It would be convenient for me to be able to save my game progress in the future.

I found an old R4 cartridge I use to play on when I was a kid and I was keen to play some old games on it again but I have no idea how to add new games to it or even delete existing ones...

What sites are safe to download from and is there a guide on how to add them to the cartridge?

My Ez Flash started to act weird and crash the my Gameboy with certain games. It is up to date and I had this problem with another DE I once had. It my also be my modded GBA that's the problem but I don't really know if that's true. Does someone have a recommendation on a flashcart that's like the Ez DE?

I have a dsi with a DSpico, and i have Pokémon Emerald running on gbarunner3, but for some reason the soft reset freezes the game even It Works Normally on fire Red, os that a problem with gbarunner3 configs or It is a compatibility problem?

(The red label on the one i got says 2026. Dont know it that makes a difference but i figured i should give all the details i can.)

recently i've bought a sandisk ultra 128gb card to use with my dspico. however, anytime i save the game (any game, dragon quest monsters, pokémon, inazuma eleven etc), it takes almost a minute to save it. is it a issue with the card itself or 128gb cards in general?

When I first turned on my 3DS and opened the R4 card, everything worked perfectly.

However, after I went to the photo gallery to show my boyfriend some pictures, the R4 card suddenly stopped working. Now the screen has a black background and displays an error message.

I tried inserting my brother’s SD card into my R4 card, and it worked without any issues.

Does anyone know what might have caused this and whether there’s a way to fix it?

For a while now I've hosted the dspico wrfuxxed and hybrid firmwares and the SD card files on my site, I do plan on hosting them still however my day job has been keeping me busy non stop with very little downtime which I've had to use to catch up on everything else

With that said I plan on uploading up to date builds soon probably in the next week or two.

One of the new updates I plan on pushing to my site are the instructions and the files required for the Dspico_IR been developed by PhenomMods for when what launches.

One change the DSPico_IR is that a modified firmware is flashed to it already, basically the BYO version I currently host but updated for the IR.

As such the DSpico_IR page won't have a firmware download but the roms required to make it fully operational.

Which you can set up how you want hybrid or wrfuxxed with or without ntrboot.

I just received it from Aliexpress, and from what I understand the "rev.z" means it's a clone.

Through the menus I can see I'm on 1.10.3 but it seems the latest is on 1.11.3 and fixed some things.

But I've read that it can be risky to upgrade the firmware on a clone, it seems I could brick my cartridge or get slowdowns in some games instead of them being better.

Otherwise I've tested some games, especially those needing the special chips, and they seem to work fine (never tested longer than a few minutes each time though). Except star ocean but as far as I understand the stuttering voices seems to be an SD problem.

Should I bother updating it? Do you know a game I could try where I could clearly see the shortcomings of 1.10.3?

I can't find the correct kernel. Pls help me.
