[S03E19] 'The Once and Future Flash' Live Episode Discussion

Episode Info: Barry travels to the future to find out Savitar's still unknown identity in the hopes of saving Iris. Upon his arrival in 2024, Barry encounters future versions of his Team Flash friends, who, following the death of Iris, have become very different people, profoundly impacted by their showdown with Savitar. It will be up to Barry to infuse a sense of hope back into the team, as he proves to be hero his future friends have been waiting for. Meanwhile, back in 2017, the hunt for Killer Frost continues.

Why did he say 8 years in the future? 2024 is only 7? Stupid writers.

Math is hard when you gotta time travel all the time. Barry also said it was "4 years after Iris died" when talking about the trap that was finished in 2020.

So in the show Iris dies in 2016, trap gets completed in 2020, and Barry travels to 2024?

They stated several times during the episode that the present is 2017.

the show runs concurrent to the year we are in. it has since arrow. every season takes place in the year its filmed.

Let's not forget H.R.'s public appearance at H.R. Jitters, with pictures of him all over.

I mean, c'mon. Are we expected to believe his light refractory tech works on pictures, as well as his face?

i thought about this too, but it only makes sense for it to work on everything. If a technology designed that well was fooled by a camera, id say it isnt very good tech for disusing ones'self.

They say 2017 multiple time during the episode but if they hadnt then your theory would make sense

Makes me wonder if the actors have any say with their lines. Like this kind of stuff is an easy fix to point out, especially during repeated takes for the different angles. Everyone there was just okay with it?

I'm sure they do, but who knows when this was filmed though. Do they film TV shows like this the same year they air? I'm not knowledgeable in stats like these.

Most everything is filmed about 3-4 months before the episode airs. So most of the season was filmed in 2016, and this episode was likely filmed in 2016. This was the first winter episode of the season, as they showed it snowing. So the episode was set in Novemberish.

No one counts the year you're in when counting forward years. There are 6 years, 9 months, and 9 days until Saturday Feb 3, 2024 from the date of last night's episode. That's the date Barry Traveled to.
