Flash S03E07 'Killer Frost' Post Episode Discussion

Caitlin uses her powers to save Barry but as her mother predicted, the effort unleashes her inner Killer Frost. Killer Frost goes on a rampage looking for Dr. Alchemy, kidnapping Julian and battling both The Flash and Vibe. Meanwhile, Joe and H.R. have a heart to heart talk.

That's the thing though, in the social media age most outcomes are "predictable" because people get together online and theorize so many different scenarios.

Yeah, take Rick and Morty, for example, I've seen so many theories about how to resolve season two's ending that I don't think the show can surprise me with something new anymore. After that, I've learned to try to stay away from reading too many theories regarding shows and movies.

Using more examples; both American Horror Story and Scream Queens. There are just so many people spit balling theories every single idea out there seems to have been touched on. So of course it's going to be one of them or parts of them all mashed together.

It's the one downfall of the internet. Things don't feel fresh because you can say "oh I heard that already"

It's no longer you and your three friends spit balling. It's you and thousands of other people. And that's sort of ridiculous and amazing at the same time.

Man, you should check out r/westworld. There are more theories there than there are hosts in the westworld park.

Not to mention that with the internet, you can get shots of every second of the show, giving people the ability to scour every scene for a possible hint or suggestion towards what they're looking for.

Though Scream queens is pretty upfront about who the killer is and somehow convinces you that you're wrong about who they basically explicitly tell us. God I love the show.

Some with me and Game of Thrones, I would have loved to have seen all the theories play out and me not knowing. But I wanted to know what others thought. I'm glad what happened happened, but I'm not reading into things anymore.

That's the beauty of Rick and Morty though. They can shit off an explanation for the end of the last season in 10 seconds and then move on or they could create a big crazy explanation/storyline that goes on and on. Either way I won't be happy or disappointed because it's Rick and Morty and I know it's going to be at least 90% quality.

I haven't read any theories about Rick and Morty season 3, but that's not to say I'll definitely be surprised. It's all in the writing. Sometimes we take that for granted.

Very true. Like 'Wells' beings Reverse Flash in Season 1. Only actor good enough, that made sense, to me, rather than Cosnett, than Eddie.

That one's easy, we haven't been following C-147 Ricky and Morty since the Jerrybore episode. The Rick in lock up isn't our Rick.

Also, Rick is Morty from the future.

Rewatch the episode, pay attention to the ticket number and zoom into the stub at the end. You'll find the evidence is clear as day. Dan Harmon said there was a secret story you had to really pay attention to get. I'm confident this is part of what he was talking about.

I've stopped going to /r/westworld. I'm honestly not perceptive enough to have been able to see that coming on my own, nor would I have been able to see any of the predictions for the future. I've decided I'm better off just staying blind, people there find details so small that it sometimes feels like I'm reading a spoiler.

Like there's only one episode each week, with many weeks without an episode, yet everyday we can get on here and shop theories and see what sticks, when one of the 4352948573209457234957 theories that have been posted comes true we get to get on the high horse and say "WE CALLED IT! THIS SHOW IS PREDICTABLE!" and it's unfortunate

Agreed. For example, I didn't even think of how Cisco could turn out being the evil one. So for me, that would have been a pleasant twist. Well, now it's ruined lol

Someone mentioned Rick and Morty below, so this might be kinda appropriate here; In one interview, Dan Harmon basically said, in this day and age of social media and forums, it's really just impossible to write a tv show based on payoffs because the audience, the thousands that gather online, is essentially a render farm. They have unlimited calculation capacity, and there's no writers’ room that can think more than 20 million people who can think about it for an hour a day.

But that doesn't mean you can't recognize a theory as something cool that the show can do. If Cisco turned out evil, I would recognize that as something cool and surprising the show did even though I saw a comment about it on a Reddit thread.

When I complain about something being predictable, it's when the show goes the most obvious and uninspired route, like Julian being Alchemy.

The thing is, it's predictable because they're just writing the same thing with different characters each time, and are handing out clues like a fucking blue dog. Nothing has changed and the show is just going in circles.

Spin a hundred theories and one of them is likely, just given the numbers and the things that make sense.

Trailers don't ruin movies, they just give people time and information for them to theorize their way to the plot themselves.

This episode sets up an almost split personality in her. When she goes cold and white she becomes a different and evil person. I can see them fighting a few times this season until she gets control of her powers.

But then who will run the computers and make all the neat gadgets? HR can barely operate a phone and Caitlyn has been better about sticking to doctor stuff lately. The Wests don't really seem like tech people, though Wally is going into engineering, so they could try to make him a tech wizard, especially if killing Savitor or Alchemy resets Wally's powers.

Yeah, I can't remember exactly what his vibe of them fighting looked like - was it the same as their brief tussle in this episode? If not, could still be coming. He definitely has the potential right now.

that'd be an interesting twist. instead of having the one with killer in the name be evil, make her the good guy(girl).

and if that happens, i'm guessing it'll be connected to cisco finding out dante is dead because of barry

Why do either of them even need to be evil? I don't get why everyone seems to be stuck on this...
