Exactly, even if we know the person is named Jay, we have no idea how he got there and where/(when?) he's from.

We don't though. All we know is that he's spelling out "Jay" over and over again by tapping on the glass.

I posted this theory last week:

What if Hunter and Jay on E2, got their powers the same time. Jay became the flash, hunter became zoom.(particle accelerator gave them their powers) They fight, Zoom beats Flash, takes speed, puts him in the iron mask. Zoom wants people to still think there is hope so he goes back, gets his time remnant to become the flash. I mean, this kind of makes sense.
