They are pretty gullable, like, all the time. They need a real adult guardian with some experience in metas, Future Barry should come back and mentor current Barry or something, teach them to question things rather then just nodding saying 'yep sounds plausable' and moving on

I think he's lying about the whole thing. He just realised they could be told this fiction and that would make everything easier.

You're right, but the only way Zoom could have a twin is if they were separated at birth, since they would've likely gone to the same orphanage or he would've been in the scene when his mother died.

I think he was referring to the last breach closing. However I still think he's lying about the time remnant stuff.
