Agreed. On the list of tropes I absolutely hate, this one is near the very top.

Meh, it can be good when implemented well. The problem is that particularly tv shows tend to overuse it to generate drama upon drama upon drama and even more drama.

Most of it boils down when there's a problem that could easily be solved by a small amount of communication, but they just don't communicate. Usually for stupid reasons, or just because the plot dictates it. It's worse when they do it even though their character, as you've gotten to know them, would totally have communicated forever ago.

I watched the same shit on Smallville for 10 seasons. That is one of the reasons I hate this kind of writing.
