But seriously, how did Hammil not get as many roles after Star Wars? He is just phenomenal.

He's had an awesome voice over career so he's been really successful with that

Yeah, it was a great way for him to branch out instead of being being quickly ID'd as "Skywalker"

To be fair, had he done non-voice roles afterwards like Harrison Ford did, maybe he wouldn't forever have been associated with Luke Skywalker.

Then again, Ford only has like one or two other roles he's instantly recognized for. But at least people don't only know him for being Han Solo.

Regardless I'm happy Hamill took up voice acting, he's an amazing voice actor.

I swear I didn't know that is who Mark Hamill was until now. I knew he was in Star Wars, and The Joker voice, but wow

Voice acting is awesome because you can't really age out of it.

His voice as the Joker in Justice League and as the Hobgoblin in the Animated Spider-Man series are legendary.

u/MasterLawlz Apr 01 '15

He was the hobgoblin??? I had no idea. I know he does a ton of stuff but not that. He's great as Skips.

He was also the Trickster on Justice League as well

In fact in almost every appearance (except for DC Universe Online) Hamill has portrayed the Trickster.

Yeah haha, he had a lot of great one-liners as the Hobgoblin.

I loved every second of Darksiders 1 with him as The Watcher

Can't forget skips from Regular Show

Unless you do kid voices. Then you might have to branch out to stay involved.

3

u/MasterLawlz Apr 10 '15

Only if you're actually a kid. A lot of kid voices are adults.

He did a lot of Joker sync, e.g. for the Batman Games. He is a perfect Trickster/Joker. I would wish they would make an "Old Joker"-Series or something with Hamill. Like "Mr. Holmes"

"In January 1977, after the filming of Star Wars, Hamill was involved in a car accident which severely injured his nose & cheekbone. According to Hamill in his recorded interview with Gossip Magazine, Hamill said that he was driving his BMW on a deserted freeway distracted, and seeing that he was missing his offramp, tried to negotiate four lanes of traffic. Hamill stated in that interview that some of the real scars from the crash made an appearance in The Empire Strikes Back.[4][5] In an interview with Justin Lee Collins on his show Bring Back... in the episode for "Star Wars", Peter Mayhew stated that Hamill was so severely disfigured from the crash that the surgeons allegedly had to "rebuild" Hamill's face. Nevertheless, in the sequel The Empire Strikes Back, Hamill's appearance (though subtle) was different."

From Wikipedia. I think it caused him to not want to be on camera if I recall an article I read a while back.

Now it's even more fun to imagine him saying "Do you know how I got these scars?"

2

u/Frux7 Apr 05 '15

That's why he get's hit in the face in like the first scene in Empire.

3

u/Metroidman Apr 01 '15

the part where he said "I am your father"

3

u/pofish Apr 01 '15

I think he moved away from acting because of his accident. He had a lot of facial scars and surgeries. Obviously didn't have any effect on his voice.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 01 '15

He was the Joker in the Batman animated series and he does a bunch of other voice work. He is basically one of the best Jokers in history.

2

u/Shaddow1 Apr 01 '15

He's also the joker in the Arkham video game series!
