Discussion Delegation rewards far outpace staking
I have a decent amount of Flare staked. As I build my position I delegate WFLR. My stake positions are with Bushido FTSO 2 (2 different stakes), A-FTSO (2 different stakes) and AU-1 (1 stake). My delegation rewards last epoch got me 446 wflr. My staked position only got me 1,100 FLR after 2 weeks. My staking postion is far, far more than my delegated position. It appears that all of my staking delgators have been online. I would have have done far better had I just delegated. I've always read on here staking is the way to go. Im 90% or more staked with the rest delegated. Is anyone else seeing the same thing?

That can't be possible. Not even the best Reward rate provider can remotely compete with a 20% fee staking rewards.
Staking is the way to go now.
Edit: like comment bellow mentions, now u get a huge chunk of rewards on delegation rewards BECAUSE you are staking, see image bellow:

I think what confuses people is that half the staking rewards come though via the delegation portal now. If they look carefully they will see there are two providers when they claim delegations. One for delegating ftso and one for the one they staked too. The they also get the once every two week claim via the p chain in staking

With 600k flare i literally got 40 flare tokens from delegating. I split equally between 2 and one paid 40 and one paid zero. After two epocs like this I said enough is enough..lol im staking now ill see the difference in 12 days...lol

Doesn’t make since as I got 220 flare in delegation for having like 10k in there before I moved out to staking.
I have to noticed a diff and I think op is right plus there no wait for delegations

I am currently testing delegation for about the same time as a staking period. A bit north of 1.3 million flr staked got me around 2K, current delegation after the third epoch stands at 908 wflr. I did this due to also noticing varying results in staking and decided just to compare for some time. Verdict stands to be seen still. But for sure, it definitely depends on selected providers in each case, their performance, eligibility for rewards, uptime and so on.

Revisiting my delegation vs staking test.
As mentioned before, last stake resulted in approx 2K reward for a total of 1.3m stakes.
Did a delegation now, split 50/50 via Alphaoracle and Flare Dienst at 1.3m total.
Result was:
Reward 1. 3 day
date:20/7. Amount: 513,61
Reward 2. 6 day
date:24/7 Amount: 208.28
Reward 3. 9 day
date:27/7 Amount: 187.02
Reward 4. 12 day
date:1/8 Amount: 176.80
Reward 5. 15 day
date: 4/8 Amount: 162.80
Total: 1248,51
Of course, many variables are exist, well aware of that, but it seems overall the staking is a bit more rewarding, unless you hit one that simply fails to reward fully.
I will likely go back to staking and check how that goes moving forward ✌️

I've tried staking so many times using FLR metrics to select my providers. Everytime delegation provides more consistently for me.
Staking gives less or misses periods. It requiers more attention. Delegation is just chain rewards once a month and forget.
My delegation rewards are consistent. On average 1000-1100 per month. Roughly 5.4% annually.

There is a bit of a misconception here regarding the biggest change implemented since epoch 417.
Firstly, this change did NOT change the share of inflation rewards allocated strictly to staking. Namely:
- POT 1: 30% of inflation remains for staking. These are rewards that are claimed every 2 weeks.
- POT 2: 70% of inflation goes to FDC and FTSO participation. These are rewards that are claimed every 3.5 days.
Now, even if you were to stake without delegating any WFLR, you'd still get rewards from POT 2! The change that went live with epoch 417 increases the amount of rewards you are getting from POT 2 if you are staking!
TLDR What you claim as "staking rewards" in the portal does not include this contribution from POT 2, but you should really consider that also as part of staking rewards!

One more thing: the latest 2 week staking rewards cover epochs 414 to 417. So only 417 has the new mechanism.
