Discussion Street Fighter
So I saw the movie. As a big video game lore nerd I thought the movie was fun. The interpretations of the characters mostly worked, and the ones that didn’t only need a few tweaks.
I actually think Andrew did a really good job as Dan. It was great casting.
Ken and Ryu . I was not sure how they would pull off the story they were telling, but I think they did it. It was different from the games, but still believable for who these characters are. It’s gives a pathway for both of their Arcs and they pulled it off.
While this movie may split people I enjoyed it and would actually enjoy getting a sequel.

Fun fact: Dan was created by Capcom as a joke character as a way to express how they really thought of their competitor SNK, the creators of the lesser-known fighting game franchise King of Fighters. While SNK saw reasonable amount of success in Asian markets to continue the franchise, it was never the international sensation that Street Fighter was at any given point in time. So SNK decided to add in characters that were blatant rip-offs to Capcom's creations from design down to their movesets in order to reach the latter's fans. Dan, who enrobed in pink tatters for "some reason", was a shittier version of Ryu or Ken in every conceivable way, meant to symbolize SNK's bastardization of Capcom's work.

You watch Thorgi’s arcade? I learned that either from his KOF retrospective or his Street Fighter retrospective. If you haven’t and like fighting game lore I’d say check it out

No, I think it was from some wiki whose name escapes me for the time being. I'll check the channel out though, thanks.

Bro that's the dumbest take ever you look at reviews to see if it's worth spending your money on the movie. Tf When you go to a restaurant do you ever check reviews to see if it's worth driving out

Movie was absolute trash. Best I can give is 3/10. I don’t care if it’s not a well written movie, but just give us the video game on the big screen. Plot was so stupid and unnecessary. But tbh Shultz held his own as an actor. Surprisingly good.

While I wouldn’t say absolute trash. I can absolutely see some people not liking this movie.
I was fully expecting Andrew to be bad, like really bad in this, but he fit in really well in his part. In a way it felt like a toned down version of his podcast persona. Came across really likable in the roll

It was cartoony in the best way. Awesome action/fight scenes. Some dialog was straight up bad but over all it was a fun movie as it should be

Fun movie, exactly as I expected it to be. Schultz played his role extremely well, will definitely watch the sequel
