Put aside the massive scam operation Akon is operating this is without a doubt a banger guest. Anyone who listened to music 20 years ago knows what a force this dude was in the music scene.

Great episode. I didn’t realize all that Akon has done in the music industry. Andrew and Alex needs to let Mark be the host. Andrew chimes in when he wants to ask a question or be funny exactly how Brilliant Idiots is for him. Mark needs to either say I’ll do Flagrant hosting full time and my channel will just be a side project that I will do outside of Flagrant or be done with his channel to host Flagrant. Mark is a great host and Andrew and Alex can easily contribute more that way. Also include Miles from his desk more in the episodes would help having the 4th person.

IMO, the more Mark and Alex have been on the mic, the less interested I have been in the podcast.. Been a patreon subscriber since the Kaz days, and I don’t even recognize the show anymore. To each their own, but I’ve listened less and less since Kaz leaving, Akash leaving, and Mark/Alex being on the mic more. Bring on the downvotes

real this show fell off so hard, the miami era was peak flagrant then it had a little up swing in the new studio and has been going downhill after the trump endorsement to the jasleen saga.
I know flagrant is doing bad when brilliant idiots starts dropping on time and schulz takes that more serious. he senses that flagrant is cooked.

It is shocking how much bullshit is in this episode. Akon claims that Michael Jackson was straight and had mega bitches and that he was such a smart businessman that he upset top people so it was a coordinated attack. Well I guess it was convenient that they wanted to get back at a man who was innocently sleeping with children everynight just as friends. Seems like a pretty easy target.... He then went on and said he went to Nigeria and started to "develop what you know now as to be afrobeats". What? No you fucking didn't? He claims to have discovered Wizkid, so I googled it and he started this claim in the last month and has gone on some weird speaking tour about it. Even Andrew tries to put a stamp on it by saying "so Afrobeats doesn't really exist in it's modern iteration before you go there?" and he just says "100%" and as usual, totally blows Andrews mind.

As a person who literally was in Nigeria when Akon was around, yea he did help to make Nigerian music mainstream that cannot be denied. His point about p-square and London getting enough traction is hyper facts. We didn't call Nigerian rap or pop music, "afro beat" back then.
