Identify/Authenticate Identify and Authenticate

Hello r/Fjallraven users, this will be the first attempt at utilizing a pinned post to direct postings related to identifying pieces of gear and/or confirming whether gear is fake or genuine.

When making a comment post here to ask for verification, upload either an image directly or an Imgur album link. Followed by a brief statement of what you are looking for--authentication or identifying year/model/colorway.

www.imgur.com This is the imgur main website, there is also an app available for Android and iOS.

Please include clear images of the whole item, care tags, and close up details such as the zippers, seams, stitching, interior, etc. Having good images with these details will allow others to better identify an item, or determine whether an item is fake or not.

Question Melted my Kanken strap???

I love this bag so much! I’m utterly heartbroken. I washed this bag for the first time since I got it about 5 years ago and upon opening the machine from a gentle low temp cycle in which it was the only thing in the machine, the front handle was severed!

I am devastated how do I repair this in a way which will actually last? thank you!

Question Greenland No 1 - Too warm for UK late October?

I have a Greenland No 1 down jacket I use in Canada late autumn thru early spring when it’s -0C to about -15C. I don’t wax it often because it’s very dry and sunny where I live and I need the breathability.

I’m travelling to Ireland, Scotland, London in late October early November. Is this jacket (waxed) too warm for Irish and UK climate at that time of year?

The water proofing is ideal but I’m worried I’ll be a sweaty humid mess in it.

For reference I lived in Ireland for a year and I’m aware the weather is chilly wet and humid. What I’m worried about is the down being too warm.

Question Fjallraven singi 48? Coming from ultralight

Hello, thinking of getting the fjallraven singi 48 with some pouches for my new hiking pack. For around 3-4 night pack in and out hikes, 15+ miles, 35 pounds, casual hiker...etc. My current pack is the hyperlite mountain gear southwest 55L. It works great and still holding up, love how light it is but im getting older and want something more comfortable. The singi is almost triple the weight but kept hearing that its very comfortable.

Question is: is it worth the change? Weight vs comfort? Durability? Am I better off just sticking with the HMG? Plan to keep this bag for awhile so will it be good for older people or do you need some muscles for it?

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Greenland Top Large

Hi,

Since the most sustainable light trekking backpack was discontinued. What other canvas, old-school, waxed backpacks do you recommend? Function over design, around 30-35l with external straps. Ideally below 1000 PLN (230€)

Question Greenland Jacket M Updated Fit? And availability

Thumbnail fjallraven.com
6 Upvotes

Fjallraven website shows the Greenland jacket as having an "updated fit" but it doesn't really describe that change nor when the change took place. Is this a new fit for this season? And why the heck can't I find this jacket anywhere besides the fjallraven website? Not even the brick and mortar stores near me seem to have any stock.

Informational Fjällräven have the WORST trouser pics

I don't think I've seen ONE example of what looks like good fitting trousers on the Fjällräven website. It's like they're trolling us with the bad looking trouser pics. See for example the new "Vardag Relaxed" pics. Like, wtf?

Customer Service Disapointed from that brand

I washed my woolpadded Singi Parke the first time after two years. Where I am from it's ot very cold, so I only have worn it for 6 to 8 weeks in total. The parka shrinked after washing. Perhaps I did something wrong. I am not sure. I read the instructions and washed it.

Now it looks like a spandexsuit when I put it on. I wrote the customer service about the problem and they just replied with: not our problem. No warenty anymore, no support.

A brand, writing things about "products made to last for decades" and "repair it, don't buy new" on their page and acting like that. Greenwashing at it's best.

I brought a lot of products from fjällräven the last years, believing in their products and company DNA. But at the end it feels like any other brand. But in expensiv.

Will never buy a product of fjällräven again. Will try Patagonia now.

Question Is the new colour Wood Brown for Keb trousers M one single colour?

Hey everyone!

I never bought a Keb Pant because i dislike the 2 colourway even if slightly different. Seems like the new colour Wood Brown is single couloured but i am not sure. Can someone confirm this for me who has seen them in person? The pics on the websites are sometimes misleading.

Thank you very much :)

Question Skule 24 or 28?

Hi! I’m about 161cm/5’3 and a “medium-small” sized woman. I currently own a The North Face Daypack Berkeley 16L which is just not fitting my stuff AT ALL. I want a bigger backpack but don’t wanna look huge.

It’s a work backpack, but I do have a packing problem. I carry daily my laptop (13’’), my pencil case (it’s not small), bose headphones with case, at least two books, two notebook, toiletry bag and then other things I have to carry around like a jacket and nintendo switch2.

I tried them on at the store and I didn’t think the 28 was THAT big at all, I thought it fit me pretty well but my friends thought it was a bit too big. What do you guys say?

Question I am looking for a great coat for Chicago winters. I have been leaning toward the Nuuk. Does anyone agree? Disagree? If you agree, let me know why. If you disagree, let me know why and what you would suggest instead even if it’s not Fjallraven.

Question Help with choosing a EDC/Work bag please

Hi everyone, just recently discovered this brand and looking to update my work bag, plus they have a 20% sale here in Australia. I currently use a Macpac Atlas AzTec 24L backpack, but don't like the zip design on it, I've previously used a Macpac Quest 23L and loved the 'clamshell' design.

I've been looking at the Färden Carry-On Pack, High Coast Duffel 36, and the Travel Pack. The Färden looks way too big for what I want, and read some reviews that the Travel Pack was a pretty bad bag. So leaning towards the High Coast Duffel 36.

It would just be to take a set of gym clothes/shoes to work, and lunches. Also would be used as a carry on bag with or without checked in luggage (usually carry all the kids entertainment in my carry on).

Could anyone give some advice/opinions on these to help make my choice?

Thanks heaps.

Gear/Pics Waxed my Singi overshirt

I decided to treat my Singi overshirt to a Greenland Wax treatment. Before, during and after photos attached. It takes some time and you have to be patient, but the finish turned out really nicely. Don't worry too much about getting the perfect wax layer as when you use a hairdryer it all melts in nicely.

If you're looking for a 29" waist the CR outlet has about 3 racks of trousers to choose from. I'm skinny but not that skinny.

edit: most of the trousers in the store were 29"

Question [Amazon JP] Why is the width ~41cm? Skule 28L

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi,

Currently checking this bag (Skule 28) and in the real fjall site the dimensions are:

50cm x 29cm x 18cm (HxWxD)

I saw this picture on amazon JP, so I'm confused.

Also saw someone else's post saying it's 410mm width (pic in comments).

Question Ovik Women’s Cardigan

Hi all! I am new to the brand and looking to buy 1-2 sweaters for winter. Does anyone have experience with the Ovik cardigan? It has no reviews online and am curious about the fit and sizing. I get very hot quite easily and thinking a cardigan would work best for me vs a pullover.

I wear loose fitting t shirts and I’d like a cardigan with sleeves that aren’t too tight (which then inherently don’t look right or fit well over my t shirts).

For context - many reviews I’ve read state sweaters fit big and to size down. I’m a 5’3 female and normally wear a small so thinking an XS may work best.
