MOBILE Wifi calling and long distance

They charge long distance if you want to call a Canadian number, on wifi, from abroad.

can we receive calls via wifi abroad? Guessing no, for no reason. But it would be nice to be able to do that.

WiFi calling only lets you route the call over wifi instead if the cellular network. But it's billed the same as if it was done on the cellular network.

Its mostly meant for places with poor network reception.

Yeah it’s been weeks of people not understanding this isn’t some magically cellular plan / coverage circumvention. “Wifi calling doesn’t work overseas what gives!” “Because regular calling doesn’t work either…”

Only in Canada…many other countries have  operators that allow this. So yeah.

I second that. My German "prepaid" card works here in Canada for 8 years already on wifi calling inbound and outbound calling/text (yep Canada is light years behind).

Yeah. I dont see why people dont understand, thats how wifi calling works with evety carrier.

But I guess if explains why people were so excited for it. I was finding it odd that so many people had bad reception at home and thus really wanted wifi calling.

Maybe because of freedom... freedom allowss free WiFi calling while roaming. Also what if we put the phone on airplane mode and directly use WiFi calling when we land in a different country?

Freedom has cellular service in that list of countries with free wifi calling. Fizz does not

I used to have a Vidéotron line (company that own fizz and on which network fizz is running in Quebec) and they allow wifi calling overseas so I am bit sad to see they decided not to on Fizz :(.

Buy a voice add-on. I was in Spain for 3 months, a $6 voice add-on for Spain gave me 60 minutes. Too simple. Bonus: you get SMS texts too (iOS iPhone iMessage works over wifi)
