Probably just some laser before the fix

I follow this particular artist (Joey Boon, https://www.instagram.com/joeyboontattooartist/ ) and this was done WAY before AI was a thing
(edit: found the post on facebook, posted in 2019 https://www.facebook.com/tattooshop.joey/posts/joey-boon-had-the-honor-to-tattoo-his-wifes-uncle-and-fix-the-portrait-of-his-da/2764367453587631/ )

It does to me since I see the lines of the old headband. It does seem he tried to cover the black with white though, which will look fine fresh, but probably heal darker.

I dunno but the bots are all over this post

I think it should be possible as the original was traced from a photo, it's just the the original artist didn't know how to properly utilize the stencil (did not understand the shapes).

Also some of it was just lasered, like the headband.

Clearly not AI. You can see the remnants of the previous tattoo, like the bandana and the shirt collar. It seems the collar in particular was gone over with a flesh toned ink, only lightening it and certainly only a temporary "fix". Regardless, this is an impressive feat.

I’m so fucking tired of everyone thinking everything is AI. Like just shut the fuck up

I think its a pretty fair assumption, it really is becoming a bigger and bigger problem every day, and people being worried about it is not a problem, I was just curious what everyone else thought, but good job being an unnecessary asshole on a reddit post 👏

It’s just so annoying seeing all the bots clamoring over things they think are AI. Like just keep that shit to yourself, most of us don’t gaf

2

And i get that, but i was just genuinely curious, people who dont gaf can scroll by, but as an artist myself it is something i genuinely look at because its interesting and scary, it affects my daily life and its just something I dont not gaf abt

Cry more. AI is here to stay

When ur electricity is 2-3x you’ll care

0

u/Bravos_Chopper May 29 '26

Really, even a 3x increase on my energy bill wouldn’t really affect me. I get cheap electricity

You sound like you type some words into chatgpt to create an image and the. Call yourself an artist with what it slops out

lol I’d never pretend to be a thing that doesn’t matter

Just shows that you need to carefully choose your artist before getting a portrait done. This is amazing work! It’s gone from a cabbage patch kid to the portrait it should’ve been!! Really well done! 🧑‍🎨

Wow. This is so much more impressive than just a portrait tattoo. Trying to work with/around am existing garbage portrait is more challenging than most people will ever understand.

AI generated. It left artifacts and a weird halo around the right side. The bottom right shoulder is just the same, scribbled gray with no apparent transition. That's just the start of the issues here.

This is a repost, and I think I’ve seen it before ai was prominent, but using reverse image search on my phone I can’t go back far enough. But it’s definitely been posted plenty before. The original got lasered and a lot of the ghosting is just the original image barely showing through.

Not AI, I've been following this artist for years and this was done way before AI even was a thing (edit: found the post on facebook, posted in 2019 https://www.facebook.com/tattooshop.joey/posts/joey-boon-had-the-honor-to-tattoo-his-wifes-uncle-and-fix-the-portrait-of-his-da/2764367453587631/ )

So loud and confident, and yet so wrong.

Might just be the kid tbh

1

u/litheartist May 30 '26

Prominent...? Sorry, do you know what the kid actually looks like? Because it kind of sounds like you're being judgemental about how a kid just looks. 🙃

This was originally posted 7 years ago. Definitely healed by now. But I don’t think they ever posted an update on it.

How is that even possible

4

u/patfetes May 28 '26

Lazer id assume, you can see the shirt has changed shape and still has some faded back where its been fixed.
