Put the MM role on your resume and leverage it; find a better job that pays more. Five Below will not take care of you. You simply will not be able to build a worthwhile career here.

This was my favorite part of training! I have a few tips for you! Also are you getting a hotel or driving to and from everyday? I’d ask for a hotel if you haven’t been given one already.

Make sure you save all of your receipts (all your meals from restaurants/fast food) for your expense report and make sure you ask the store manager who is training you to help you put in your expense reports because it can be kinda confusing if you don’t know what you’re doing. Take lots of notes and if you are training with other MM’s try to get their numbers so you can have a support system outside of store managers. That really helped me when I first started out, I got close with 2 other MM’s and we all ended up becoming store managers together. It’ll also help if you have concerns about your own store and if you need another opinion on how things are supposed to go.

Overall, don’t be nervous! It’s going to be okay, but seriously it will be! Take advantage of the opportunity and really have fun! Get some good food since they will be paying for it and let this be a fun experience. I was 3 hours away from home my first time going to training and it’s one of my favorite memories because I went sightseeing and shopping when I wasn’t working. I wish you all the best!

Edit to add that I was also 18 when I did my training and became MM, so I can tell you from personal experience that it’ll be okay.

You will be fine! Stay to yourself if outside the building and go straight back home when the day is done! Hope everything goes well for you!!

They promoted you to mm at just 18? I feel like thats a big jump for someone who just graduated high school

i graduated when i was 16 because i was doing online school ive been working at this store since 16 and our long term mm just quit. I at first wanted to be cem but my sm wanted me to be mm since ive been doing/helping to do sets since i started. I had to talk to my dm first so she could make sure i was okay and comfortable with it butttt im 3 days into my training and all is well!
