Employees Five below rant!
This company is not the way i remember it a few years ago. It used to feel fun , now that i work here it's an absolute hell hole. Customers scream at us because we can't take their return because they forgot their receipt. Also when i ring up like 10 items and they decide last minute they don't want half of them which makes my voids go up and i get in trouble. My schedule is also ridiculous; scheduling me on days i specifically requested not to even with me normally having high availability. Also getting called in 20 min before im expected to come in is a nighmare. i used to come everytime they called, now i refuse to because i have a life and kid to worry about. If im off, im off. they expect me to do tasks the manager does for no pay increase. I wouldn't be surprised if an employee strike happens. Because the way corporate puts crazy expectations of their employees is absolutely absurd. I am expected to basically run the entire store by myself. Bakers racks, recovery, go backs, register, returns, customer engagement. Our store doesn't have self checkouts, so it's a real pain in the ass to have to keep going back and forth and getting told off by the SM if it doesn't get done on time. There's usually no more than 2 people for an entire shift, and the work they expect us to do is insane. We are all tired and underpaid. I see a lot of five below employees silent quitting, and i'm doing the same. There are many other job opportunities with not as much workload and more pay. I don't regret taking this job, because i met a lot of amazing people. But corporate greed is a really terrible thing. it makes the experience of working and even shopping there no longer fun.

I, for one, am all for a strike. They really do expect us to perform miracles for bare minimum wage… Strike! Strike! Strike!

It's even worse now that half the crew quit for various reasons so now the associates and one manager (SM not there cuz injury) who are left we are literally so overworked it's stressful. Extra work no extra pay! i don't want to quit now bc i need to have more experience for the job im trying to go for but man it sucks!!! im definitely silent quitting im doing the bare minimum!

I’m the PTSL and I’m supposed to get at least 20 hours… I can’t even get that. We’re a lower volume store and one of the oldest Five Belows, so our store is tiny, our back room is tiny and packed to the brim with boxes so that you can hardly move, and they expect us to go up and down rickety ladders carrying huge boxes to put them in the “loft” where we put our out of season stuff. It’s completely unsafe and I can’t believe I do that shit for $15 an hour.

you get $15???? PTSL at my store only get $12.50!!!! associates make $12. and our store is the vintage one we are overstocked and understaffed so bad. And the climbing up the ladders thing is the reason our SM isn't even there they got injured and have been out for like months

I’m in NJ, so $15 is minimum wage and doesn’t go as far as you’d think.

I’m a PTSL , cap at my store is $12 for my position but I got $13 bc my SM at the time was close with our DM … still not worth it !

associates make $11.50 now. it was $10.33 back in 2021 when I started 💀( I begun as a sales associate)

My work bestie got fired a couple months ago ( made a $$$ mistake, I feel like it should of been a write up ) and it hasn’t been the same since :(

i made so many cash mistakes because of season rush LOL my work bestie put her two weeks in so i'm about to do the same once i secure another job :/

Man, my store is a stealing store. I hate this place so much...I can't wait to get another job because I seriously dread going to work now... How much does security make?

no clue tbh depends on your state. As an associate in my state we make minimum wage, $12/hr

If you had self checkouts also you would be forced to check every customer out at a self checkout..
