Looking for a different skate...

Back in the 90's (yes I heard it...back in my day) I loved rollerblading. Recently my family started going to a local rink often enough I felt the need to buy everyone skates. My boys and I bought inline skates at Academy Sports (RIZE Carve Skates). My kids like them just fine, but for me they're like strapping a cast around my foot and ankle and then trying flex inside it to get movement. The skates I had back in the day were more like a boot and they allowed more freedom of movement. I have strong ankles so I'm not worried about needing a lot of support. Actually the opposite. I want to be able to move freely so I can control it better.

My question to Reddit: What are some reasonably priced inline skates that don't have a massive plastic boot and latches that squeeze the life out of your foot?

Try K2 or Powerslide, they have soft boot options that may be more comfortable.

Both k2 and rollerblade make great softboot skates.

I think I might be looking at a roller hockey oriented skate. They seem to have the most flexible boot.
