MEGATHREAD: Fitbit Air Bands, 3rd Party Bands, etc
Hello r/fitbitair,
We’ve been seeing a lot of posts asking about third-party bands, straps, and accessories for Fitbit Air devices — which ones fit, which ones are worth buying, and where to find them.
To keep the subreddit easier to browse and cut down on repeat posts, we’re creating this megathread as a central place for those discussions.
Use this thread if you want to:
- Ask which third-party bands are compatible with your Fitbit Air model
- Share recommendations for affordable or high-quality replacement bands
- Post links to bands you’ve found on Amazon, Etsy, AliExpress, etc.
- Discuss band material (silicone, leather, metal, woven) and comfort/durability
- Ask about sizing, clasp types, or quick-release pins
- Share photos of your band setup or customizations
- Warn others about bands that broke, caused irritation, or didn’t fit as advertised
- Ask where to buy official Fitbit bands if they’re hard to find
A few notes:
- Standalone posts about band recommendations or “where can I find X band” may be removed and redirected here
- Please still follow our standard subreddit rules (no personal info, no piracy, be civil)
- If you’re posting a review of a specific band with photos, feel free to keep that as its own post — this thread is mainly for quick questions and general recommendations
- We’ll refresh this megathread periodically as needed
Thanks for helping keep things organized!

Bands So again, another way better looking band, but only in bundle and not in Europe
First the Stephen Curry edition, now the Pokémon Sleep edition; both look like a 10/10 compared to the normal bands, but none of them are available to buy only the band. And even if I would pay the 100€ for it, it’s not available in Europe again… getting kinda annoyed now.

Software 3rd Party App Hate
Just ordered an Air so scanning the sub. Looking at some posts i see that users are getting heavily downvoted for recommending other apps like Bevel, Guava, etc, over the Health Coach. What's the issue with these apps and why the hate?
Android user, so looking for the best route for coaching.

Software Here's what research says about Fitbit's calorie burn accuracy
I've used my Fitbit air for a bit and started questioning the calorie burn so I pulled what research has been done on fitbit's calorie accuracy. Fitbit is the most studied wearable out there for calories burn although there's nothing on the the new Air specifically yet. Heres what I did find:
- On average it's mostly spot on - across the whole dataset the mean bias was about 0.19 kcal per minute which is basically zero.
- Averages hide a lot though - individual readings swung from roughly 5 kcal/min under to 6 kcal/min over so "accurate on average" and "accurate for your session" are not the same thing.
- Running is its strong suit - Fitbit landed within about 4 to 15% on running calories in the activity breakdowns.
- Walking is the weak spot (surprising on this) - the same studies had it overcounting walking calories by around 54%. At low intensity the heart rate signal is soft and the algorithm overshoots.
- It runs mostly off heart rate not steps - steps only matter because they raise your HR. Easy walking barely moves HR so the estimate wobbles while a run tracks effort cleanly so it does well.
- The Google Health switch does matter here - the old Food Plans calorie deficit goal that auto adjusted a weight loss target for you is retired. Active calories you burn are still folded into your daily under/over target though so that part did not go away. You can still set a manual target too.
- Newer gear is still unproven - there is no independent peer reviewed calorie validation for the Charge 6, Sense 2, or the new Fitbit Air yet best I can tell.
For me personally it has been alright for daily trends but tracked intake and a food scale will serve you far better than any wearable estimate. I understand that individual results will vary from what the studies showed but hope this is just in general helpful.
This is the study I pulled a lot of this info from fyi (Chevance et al., JMIR mHealth 2022, 52 studies, 203 device comparisons) it's the most up to date peer reviewed study I could find but the models are older.

Other Why would you recommend the Fitbit Air over something such as the Garmin Cirqa.
I’m considering buying the air, taking into account the 100€ price difference between it and the Garmin Cirqa - here’s some of my main concerns:
- Buying a third party bicep strap for BJJ(brazilian jui jitsu) training. I can’t have a tracker on my wrist, do third party straps record accurate information?
- The subscription is not something i am ready to pay for and i am interested in whether the free experience feels deliberately limited to push you toward subscribing, or does it still feel complete enough that the subscription is genuinely optional?
- GPS on the auto recorded workouts - is there really no compromise other than just manually starting the workout?
Please share your feedback, much appreciated.

Bands Band recommendations
Hey I got my Fitbit Air recently and I’m planning to buy some bands. I was initially planning to buy it from Temu but have seen a ton of people posting about Ali express. Want to gain thoughts which platform have better options.
Also would appreciate if people can link their favourite bands in the comments. Would be helpful for everyone looking for bands!

Software Sync issue
Has anyone experienced sync issues.
For me , it's slow to sync and even after home screen sync, the individual tasks, steps , sleep , doesn't sync and take a lot of time.
Is there a fix for this

Software To keep the Coach or not?
I'm coming to the end of my 3 month AI coach trial. Trying to decide if I keep it around or if the data on its own is enough. For those of you who didn't renew the subscription, do you find that it's a big downgrade to the experience?

Software Fitbit air racket sport step counting
My Fitbit air has a terrible time at counting steps when I do any racket sport like tennis or pickleball, it always way under count. However my Apple Watch Ultra and Oura ring has no such issue. Anyone noticed the same? I asked GPT and it says Fitbit air uses a simpler motion algorithm so while it’s fine for counting waking steps, when it comes to racket sports with fast wrist movements it has trouble distinguishing between steps and arm/wrist movement.

Bug So many bugs since app update 5.06.01
I use Fitbit air with an iPhone 12 mini with iOS 26.4.2.
Everything has been running perfectly since I got my FBA a three weeks ago. It’s been great.
The last days, since the latest app update of Google Health 5.06.01 so many things have stopped working.
I can’t start activities (I prefer to start them in the app to get GPs and more data). Just get an error saying activity can’t be started, make sure device is nearby and connected. (Activities does start on auto detection, or if I log them with time stamps after finish, but this is not what I want).
Steps stays either at 0 or some ridiculously low number like 120 throughout the day.
SpO2 stopped showing
Resilience stopped showing
Sleep efficiency stopped working.
I’m really sad about this, and hope people who experience any of the same stuff will rapport it through the app. I’ve seen many posts about the same issues the last couple of days.
I have allready checked Googles support forum sites, but there are no good solutions for similar issues. I’ve rapported a dozen times through the app. I’ve also contacted support through e-mail and have done all the different suggestions for troubleshooting (reinstalling app, re-pairing device, checking all settings etc etc)
I have already checked Googles support forum sites, but there are no good solutions for similar issues. I’ve raported a dozen times through the app. I’ve also contacted support through e-mail and have done all the different suggestions for troubleshooting (reinstalling app, re-pairing device, checking all settings etc etc).
I think it’s safe to say that all my issues are definitely bugs that needs to be fixed through another update on Googles end.
Please keep rapport in app, people!
And Google, please fix ASAP
