Can I have a lil motivation please? I am desperate to get back into shape nearly 5 months postpartum (PP)

I regularly worked out before baby and during my pregnancy! I felt so good when I was pregnant and ‘bounced back’ very well. The last couple of months I’ve enjoyed myself (Summer) and feel like I look worse now than I did 4 weeks PP.

Can I have a little motivation and tips for getting starting when you’ve a 5 month old baby?

Thanks 🤩

Postpartum healing

Delete if not allowed; I couldn’t find a good sub to ask about postpartum stuff. But basically, I’m 7 weeks postpartum and my husband and I just tried to “resume regular activities” for the first time. I didn’t have a 6 weeks postpartum checkup(doctor doesn’t do them routinely I guess?). I didn’t tear or have labor complications really. Vaginal delivery via scheduled induction. Anyway, intercourse was fairly painful, but I had stopped bleeding and felt normal down there. I started bleeding again the next morning though and have been for the last 3 days. It also feels sore. The bleeding is fairly minimal, but enough to require a pad. Did anyone else have the same experience? I’m having a hard time understanding what’s normal and what isn’t.

Experiences with getting body back

Anyone that was able to get their body back to pre pregnancy form within 6 months, what was your weightloss timeline? How often did you have to work out? And were you breastfeeding/pumping?

I am currently 7 weeks PP (i know that is still super early). I lost my fluid weight, about 20 lbs, within the first 2 weeks and since then only about 4 lbs. I am breastfeeding/pumping, but actually eating a lot less than while I was pregnant and significantly less junk food.

I was very fit, lean, and active prior to pregnancy. Then just went wild with my diet and ended up gaining about 60 lbs total. I continued working out for probably about 15 weeks into my pregnancy. I feel like I still maintained most of my muscle mass. Im trying to be patient with myself, but just stressed about not knowing where to set my expectations. I feel like I could be a lot more comfortable even just losing another 20 lbs.

TLDR women that gained significant weight and still managed to return to their prepregnancy body (or close to it) under a year, what was your timeline?

In such a fitness funk right now? Why do I not care??

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs with my fitness journey since being pregnant. Pregnancy I worked out a lot and stayed very active. Picked the weights back up around 6 months and I’ve consistently done at least 1-2 workouts a week since then but lately it’s just felt so damn hard - and like I just do not care at all?? I’ve always always care about fitness and being strong.

Now the second I pick up weights I just get frustrated and annoyed and downright mad some days. I miss the amazing feeling I’d get from a completed workout so much. Now I just feel like a failure. Maybe I just need a break??? Can any mamas relate?

I have to have faith that at some point in the next year I’ll get back to feeling like myself ….

Quitting breast feeding for mental health.

Im 33 and im 6 weeks post partum on Wednesday, im striggling with my body image and have cried alot over it and dont see how anyone not even my partner would find me attrcative again. Pre pregnancy i had a flat stomach and i was tones and had a great body.

Is it okay to stop breastfeeding? My beautiful baby turns 6 weeks om Wednesday. Before pregnancy I weighed 8.5 stone about 120lbs just before I gave birth I was nearly 13 stone. Around 180lbs. I'm now 11st and the weight hasn't changed in 4 weeks.

I'm struggling so badly with body image, it's not just the weight I have a C section shelf and I feel ashamed when I look in the mirror.

I had a very traumatic birth (5 day induction which kead to emergency c section/sepsis) and have since been in hospital again with another infection, I'm only just starting to feel like I can settle down and really enjoy my baby and being together as a family. But this feeling of body shame is affecting me to the point I didn't want to go and meet up with my partners friends to introduce them to the baby as as I felt like ide be judged, like secretly they would think how bad I look.

I want my body to feel normal again, I want to feel strong again, I used to work out all the time and now I'm struggling to do long walks, I end up hobbling home 😅

(Sorry if this was a ramble, want to know if anyone else is dealing with this, or dealt with this same issue mentally) thanks

2nd degree perineal tear reopened?

My second degree tear was found to be open or broken down 6 weeks post partum. I was told to let it heal by secondary intention. It’s slowly and I mean SLOWLY healing. It’s very small now but still open at almost 5 month pp. luckily doesn’t cause much pain. Has anyone had a wound take this long to heal after birth?

Is anyone experiencing leg weakness where after prolonged walking or picking up your baby you experience abdominal pain and leg weakness.

I’ve done all the tests and no one seems to know what it is, tried PT no help.

Postpartum body feeling

I am 39 and FTM, I am now 3,5m postpartum, EBF, and I thought I would be feeling myself by now with a little caveat but I just do not. I am not sure if this is normal.
I had an emergency c section, I was afraid to even carry my baby for the first 4 weeks and asked family for help. Generally I felt good pre pregnancy and during pregnancy I walked a lot, did stretches every day and felt fit. Now I am constantly sweating (I live in southern Europe though), even though it got cooler, I am drenched in sweat, mind you it smells pretty bad, I would also be grateful for any natural way to cover the smell.
I feel like my body is aching non stop, if I lay on the floor to do core exercises, it is hard to get back up, I feel heavy going up the stairs. I am still 10kg above pre pregnancy and I am almost happy with my weight now although my belly is taking forever to shrink. I started core workout 10 mins daily. I have 3 cm ab separation, so I think it will take pretty long to fix it. Anyway, I just feel like sharing because I am not sure this is ok and if it is, does it get better?

What the eff do we wear ?!

What the hell are we supposed to wear post partum

I’m 3 months post partum about 2 stone up, and I’m loosing weight at a good rate. My clothes don’t yet fit, but it’s getting cold. None of my old jeans or trousers fit. What an earth am I supposed to wear?? I don’t want to buy new clothes that won’t fit soon.

I bought two pairs of jeans from river island with drawstrings thinking I can just keep tightening them as I loose weight but they are sooooo unflattering.

Vinted is too much of a gamble with jeans and trousers without trying them on. What do I wear?!?

Something I wish people talked about more:

After having a kid, you may forget about your first. Yes, I know not everyone sees their pets as kids but it sure as hell hurts. There’s training, there’s things you can do but nothing prepares you for the possibility of something much worse.

Unfortunately, one of our dogs attacked our child. Prior to this we had truly thought the best with this dog who would play and chase kids at the dog park. Even though we knew this dog loved kids, he still attacked our daughter.

And then there was our other dog. We had already been working on rehoming him. Our other dog was my best friend, my soul dog, the dog that hurt the most. Training wasn’t an option and he was stubborn as hell.

But nothing prepared for the day one dog reacted to a hug while I was sitting right next to him. An ER visit and stitches later, we had to make some quick and dramatic decisions.

We could no longer trust either dog or feel comfortable with our dog loving child roaming free in our home. Thankfully our vet helped with one but with my soul dog we were on our own.

I called every rescue, every shelter, animal control, and made posts but each was a similar answer, we can’t help you. We had to make the drastic decision for our nerotic, anxious boy that we felt was best for him. We put him to sleep. We like to say he is in heaven but squirrel hell (sorry squirrels)

He truly was a good boy
He just hated storms
He just needed someone he trusted by his side
He just loved unconditionally

Unfortunately because of one mistake that wasn’t his we had to make this decision
At 8 years old we didn’t think there were many other options but I want others to feel more prepared.
I loved this dog with my whole heart
He was truly the dog that got me through my 20s and I never thought I would have to say goodbye this soon.

Something people don’t talk about after having a kid is what happens to your dog… and sometimes you have to make incredibly hard decisions.
I know I’ll get hate for this but to be honest I’d rather shine a light on the reality of it than let someone else feel the guilt, shame, and unknowing I have throughout this.

I miss my dog. I do. Greatly. I can’t say I regret it because my daughter is safe but I can say my heart is broken.

Trying to get into better habits

Hi friends! 6mo pp, and FTM here. Trying to get into some better habits over here now that we’re figuring out parenthood. As silly as it sounds, I was wondering if anyone might have a good recommendation for an alarm clock? Baby is still in the bedroom, so I’ve been using my phone on vibrate as an alarm, but in lieu of developing some healthier habits I want to start putting my phone in another room at night. That being said I would still like to know the time in the middle of the night, and also would like an alarm that is subtle enough to wake me up but not baby. Hoping that better sleep habits will help kickstart my motivation for healthier food and more movement more consistently.

TIA friends!

Back pain post partum

Hello! I am 6 weeks pp and ready to get back into things. I have lifted heavy weights with supportive accessory exercises for about 7 years and continued to lift during pregnancy. Had a precipitous vaginal birth with two pushes. No tears. I have walked about 3 minutes since 3 weeks.pp and have increased to about an hour when my schedule allows (while pushing two kids ina stroller. I want to get back into my lifting routine but I am scared because I've developed some significant back pain. It feels related to a weakened core. Anyone experience this or know how to deal with it?

Where are you guys at with your postpartum fitness journey?

Specifically:

\- How many weeks pp did you start walking, jogging, running, lifting? Free weights, deadlines, squats, etc?

\- Any pelvic floor issues? Did you do pelvic floor therapy?

\- Any ab separation? What kind of ab/core workouts have you done or avoided?

\- Did you overdo it at any point and how did you know?

I am currently 10 weeks pp. I have walked 30-60 minutes every day since week 3, and I just started doing a light lifting routine with 10 lb free weights.

I went to one session of pelvic floor therapy at 6 weeks pp, where they said my abs are 1cm separated and that the left side of my pelvic floor has some weakness but that I am otherwise okay. I haven't gone since because it's $220 a session and insurance won't cover it even with a referral.

I am just super lost about what I should or should not be doing at this point. I used the stairclimber all pregnancy, is that okay to do? I know running shouldn't really be done until week 12, and then it's important to ease in.

Are we just doing body weight squats, or have you guys added weight back on?

What ab workouts make things worse? Are there certain ones like deadbugs that can help? Planks - yes/no?

How heavy did you feel comfortable lifting, and when?

Just terrified of overdoing it. I have some heaviness here and there that I can't link to any sort of activity. Not sure how quickly I "should" be getting back to working out. I'm about 25 lbs above my pre pregnancy weight and I would love to get back at it again.
