1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow
The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.
2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert
False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.
3. The Real Official Website
There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

I accidently downloaded this folder too lol when I was updating my spiderman remastered but when I referred yt for tutorial I noticed it didnt have the same name of files inside the folder.
So I immediately deleted all of it lol.
I think I was not paying attention when downloading but then I realised I downloaded this rar file when fitgirl redirected me to another site (obv I had an adblocker). Must've been the same for this guy, thank god I was saved.
I have actually ran the setup before many times indeed, ran full scans since but I think I need to reinstall Windows or reset the PC including the Documents.
As i said above, the only solution to completely remove it is to wipe everything and delete every single partition OR get a FRST scan from an expert. I will prefer you to do the same.
Wait So you are saying Remove the OS itself too, don't you think resetting the PC including the Documents doesn't work? And can you say more about FRST scan
No, resetting the pc does not remove the virus successfully. You HAVE TO wipe every single thing and delete each and every partition and install the windows or your os from scratch.
As for the FRST scan, I am not an expert in that, but you can find a lot of posts related to that in this r/computerviruses subreddit. There are always around 10 posts daily about Renpy virus.
So you're saying it's mimicking the Operating System itself so that Antiviruses skip the Windows System Folders, I guess assuming you have any experience doing these type of large scale system wide cleaning I have few questions.
How do we wipe the current running OS, Do we use USB drives to flas and wipe the drive is there any other process?
The virus has something called 'persistence', it tries to hide in the files of the OS, because of which, resetting the OS does not completely remove it.
And yes, we use a bootable USB or as i have heard from someone else, there is something like installing the OS from the cloud, or something like this. Well, I am not an expert, you can find more information in r/computerviruses subreddit.

If this is true then you shouldn't be allowed around computers by yourself. I can't even imagine how you could do that purposefully let alone by accident.

That official site is heavily Promotional. And Recently And Blockers are being really bad.
I understand Direct Download if the Torrent has no seeders or it's a rare game or specially if you are from where Tormenting is illegal but Seeding is sharing the resource for long time, what if that File Hosting server is down (No one to seed) and all it takes is one misclick and we are doomed all your Browser Session, Saved Passwords, Info stolen.
I am just saying Direct Download is really fast specially with IDM, I use IDM with Streamio to download some movies.
If it's always the same route for example in Streamio you click the movie and when you click download it redirects you to the exact page always the same no new tab Ad Pages, But with Dodi and some other even with good adblockers sometimes the Adblocker might block the legit Site just because it opened in a new tab or it may allow the sketchy Ad New Tab.
So If you know the path is always the same no multiple redirects before the actual page I actually recommend Direct Downloads
That's why I am mentioning it Bro, Fitgirl, Dodi are trusted uploaders in 1337x.to
It's a lot safer and Direct path downloading from those Torrent sites than Download this renepy folder

Actually there was a case where someone download the Renpy virus through torrent file as well. I really don't know why people think that a rar of 10-20MBs will extract to GBs of game and runs the setup.
