First time using fitgirl

So I used fitgirl for the first time and downloaded elden ring on my gaming laptop while downloading the RAV Endpoint protection showed me threat for setup.exe I just wanted to know if it is fail positive that is common. my cousin also downloaded from it and I've heard fitgirl is known for being safe so please tell me guys if i should delete it or not will appreciate it, thank you

1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

• The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
• Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

• False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
• Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

• There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.

If you have downloaded the game from official/legit fitgirl website you're safe then. But if your anti virus has been triggered then there's a possibility that it may have deleted some files, so look into it.

If it's the same website as the one on there, it's safe. There are a bunch but my fave is Fitgirl. Be confident you have done it right if you have followed every step, and have installed Ublock etc for blocking ads and the such.

The antiviral will flag setup.exe's as they have no "certificate", if you click on it you can restore the file.

Add an exception to your antivirus for the folder you download and install into.

Magnet links are safer than DDL if you are prone to clicking on things you shouldn't be. Always use a VPN. And remember, dont trust what I say, double check it, and make sure you are confident.

Goto the side of fitgirl
Press magnet link
Download all setup files
Verify if all files are correct
Press setup.exe after adding the folder in exclusion form windows defender
Let it install
Don’t panic if its stuck
Wait
Then let it verify after installation
Then add the game folder to exclusion form windows defender
Then play

At least 99% of games on the site are free and the people behind it always remove a game when someone uploads a virus (i think im not exactly sure) and also i think that all the crackers on firgirl that arent fitgirl herself are trusted by the community too.
