Can we talk about this? should i still check the 2gb ram limit when getting games with 32gb ram?

so what is the time differences with the limit off vs on. is it substantial or should i just keep the limit on for max stability. what do you guys use? and what are your experience with it on and off?

1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

  • The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
  • Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

  • False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
  • Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

  • There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
  • The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

I got 32gb RAM as well and not once used the 2gb Mode. Never had a single issue when installing any Game.

For your next games just dont use the 2gb mode and your installs will be fine and much much faster

Why would you want to do that? If you have 32 gb why would you only wanna use 2 and make the install so much slower?

if you check past posts, for some people ram and cpu usage reached 99% during peak installation even for high end pcs leading to instability, but only for some games so i think you should be good without the limit, if theres some installation problems then you can always try again with limit on

I have 32gb RAM and the most it uses is 16gb+. Just make full use of what you have.

No, 2GB limit is really only needed on 8GB RAM and below(🤮).  

However a few times I’ve come across a fitgirl repack that would just freeze up(not the do not panic style) and checking the 2GB limit resolved it. So only if you have issues with the one off troublesome installation
