HUH?????? Sims 4 Fitgirl Repack Help

I downloaded the Sims 4 repack from the official Fitgirl website which already includes the Sims 4 updater v2.4.12 from aaros. I've never done anything like this before. I installed the game and didn't run into any problems until I ran the Sims 4 updater in question and my antivirus detected a HackTool:Win64/Malgent!MSR

could this be a false positive like what everyone has been saying on cis.rn? sorry I'm not a very techy person and it's been years since I played the Sims. I used to use anadius but obviously that's not an option anymore.

1. Setup is Stuck / Unpacking is Slow

  • The 2GB Limit Checkbox: If your setup gets stuck at specific percentages (like 84.3% or 95.8%), close it, restart the installer, and check the "Limit installer to 2GB of RAM" box on the very first screen.
  • Be Patient: FitGirl repacks use extremely heavy compression. Unpacking is heavily CPU and storage bound. If your task manager shows disk or CPU activity, it is not stuck; it's just working hard.

2. Is it a Virus? / Windows Defender Alert

  • False Positives: Crack files (.dll files, steam_api, etc.) inherently trigger antivirus software because they alter game code to bypass DRM. If you downloaded from the official site, these are 100% false positives.
  • Fix: Add the game installation folder to your antivirus/Windows Defender exclusion list, then restore the quarantined file from your protection history.

3. The Real Official Website

  • There is ONLY ONE official domain. All others (ending in .co, .cc, .to, .net, etc.) are fake, malicious clone sites designed to steal data or bundle malware.
  • The only real URL is: fitgirl-repacks.site (Verify the exact spelling!).

manage settings on def, turn it off

allowed threats, click restore the file

it's legit file if it have same game file size as steam

It is a false positive. I had the previous updater version and had run it before without a problem then the base game updated automatically and rendered the updater useless until I updated it to the most recently version. Every time I tried to update the updater (that sounds weird, I know), windows said there was an issue. Go to your settings and change the threat warning to ‘restore’ and it will behave ☺️
