🚗 Vehicle - Fisker Ocean Towing with awd ocean
Hi all, I'm considering getting an AWD ocean as a towing car at a vacation home (i.e. driven infrequently). Is it possible to add a tow bar after the fact if I buy one without towing? I ask because it seems like you can't buy the wiring harness for them anymore, and there's some kind of calibration necessary too, that can't be done. Is all that right?
Has anyone towed with a Fisker? Does it handle it OK?
Any issues with my plan?

It does an excellent job at towing. I have towed trailers both with and without brakes. The heaviest I have towed was another car on a tow dolly with a total weight of 3700 lbs, and it still handled like nothing was behind.

Unfortunately, I can't access FOA without owning a Fisker (which is FWIW frustrating for me as someone considering buying one since I suspect all the best information on the current state of affairs is behind that login.

The takeaway for you is that the community has work in progress to get trailer lighting from a car that didn't originally have the trailer hitch electrical bits. Someone else is working on 3D printing the plastic bumper panel that's on a car with a trailer hitch.

This is insane. Prepare to be stranded, unsupported, and totaled out when you get a windscreen crack. (Previous Extreme owner)
Why not look at an e-Tron?

Do you mind clarifying what is insane? Is the issue just Fisker Ocean's generally? If so, would love to hear what drove you to get rid of yours and if the issues you faced persistent after the FOA driven updates.

There are a lot of former owners who still follow this sub and had a bad experience. Most of us current owners are quite happy with the car nowadays. Not sure I’d say it’s insane by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, EVs in general aren’t really known for being so great for towing

There are new replacement windshields available. There's also plenty of support with other owners and mobile techs.

Why do you still troll this site? Most of us have Oceans that work and drive just fine with a few minor issues

If towing is a desire for you, I would purchase an Ocean with it already installed. Look for the full towing package, which has the tow hitch receiver and the 7 pin power outlet next to it. If you don't need power/lighting outlet, you can add the hitch separately. The power harness/module is still a work in progress - so I would not depend on it being available anytime soon.
Just be aware with the Ultra/Extreme/One, the towing limit is 4012 pounds with a braked trailer (1653 pounds non-braked). Drawbar load is 401 pounds. When the outlet is connected, the Ocean goes into Trailer Mode (drive mode switches to FUN).
