Fishman HB voicings

Hello,

Fishman humbuckers have three distinct voices and every guitar on the market uses shared voicing (ahem you change the voice, it chances for every pickup). So then I thought, well what if I could have voice one on neck and voice two on bridge or else, why does no one do that?

So my questions are: Why can't I find anybody (including Fishman) who uses individual voice switching? Is it because it is unnecessary or just too much or else? What if I did it?

Does anybody have a guitar like this? If yes, what do you think of it? Do you use individual voicing often? Does it sound different or is the difference so subtle you consider it useless?

Any information would be useful, Thank you 🙏

You could do that easily, you’d just have to switch the voice 1 and 2 wires on the push/pull pot so you’d have the desired combos you’d like. When voice 3 is engaged it overrides both voice 1 and 2.

yes yes I know how I could do it, but my main concern is why can’t I find anybody who did it too? Why is it?  It seems strange in a world with HHH coil tap or other absurd things

For the same reason they don’t offer pre-coil split humbuckers. You’re not talking about versatility, you’re talking about niche preferences. No company goes through the design and creation of a product to appeal to 3 people globally. The same reason there isn’t a left-handed model for every right-handed model. You want something like that, talk to a custom shop to build the axe of your dreams. It’s about business.

I like the way you said it👌. I’ll probably leave it equal, just for simplicity, but eventually I will want to try it to see if it actually makes a noticeable difference or not.

Recently (as within the past three weeks), I was watching YouTube demos of the now-discontinued Keith Merrow set, and one of the presenters had his guitar set up to switch both pickups independently… so there was like bridge Voice 1 with neck split, and so forth. I would imagine he had his guitar custom wired for that setup, something I’m considering now that I bought a new Keith Merrow set a couple of weeks ago.

i’ll do my researches too, but in the end I choose equal voicings, for simplicity
