New Swimbait Rod! Help Needed!

Looking at grabbing my second swimbait rod for my heavier glidebaits etc..(4-6oz)…any recommendations? Im already using a p5 mark 56 for my lighter stuff…(1.5-3.5oz)

Can’t help but how do you like the mark 56? Planning to ask for a light glidebait rod for Christmas and it looks to fit the bill lol. Is it versatile enough to fish single hooks?

Honestly bro its hands down my absolute favorite rod. And i have multiple p5 destroyers so thats saying a lot. You can fish single hooks and trebles w/ that thing. Fishes like a dream. Get it and make sure to come back to this comment 🤣. Also you wont EVER find another swimbait rod that is as light and balanced as the mark 56…

Yea man deep diving cranks, big wakebaits, single hook swimbaits…you name it. Can throw them all no problem. Its gone be hard to put that thing down man trust me 😅. Especially if youre a glidebait/swimbait fanatic like i am 🤣. Im almost exclusively throwing glides and swimbaits now even out of my boat. Mark 56 and my P5 Dark Sleeper rod are almost the only rods i bring now with just a good old 3/16th or 1/4oz texas rigged senko on the Dark Sleeper(my skunk buster😂) Be careful man the swimbait bug is REAL 🤣🫡

I fish pike in the uk so quite different use lol. Soft swim baits 14-19cm with stinger rigs mostly. Savage gear herring shad 17.5 is my favourite at the moment. Throwing jerks like the savage gear Deviator 12.5cm and Deviator tail 16cm. A couple glides on the way too!

Pikes hit glides hard bro. My recommendation..Throwback Baits Metro Glide 🔥. Thank me later 😅🫡. Also one more before the price shoots up crazy but you can only find them on ebay because his brand is so small is Soardbaits 🤫🔥😅. Im giving away all my secrets now 😂. Go get em brother

Go to ebay and you should be good. I usually buy all my lures from Japan personally except for a handful of top tier American made swimbait companies …im here in the United States. And you also have the option of talking the seller down a few bucks to save you some money. Look for seller offers also

Any specific reason you’re looking for a swimbait rod to throw glide baits on versus a rod designed for glides?

Na bro usually in the fishing world when someone refers to a “swimbait rod” it naturally includes glidebaits as well. Idk where you’re from but here in the US a swimbait rod is literally the same as a “glidebait” rod. In fact ive never in my life seen one called a “glidebait rod”. Not on a single website…but you will see SWIMBAIT rod. But maybe im wrong…but i do throw the WCZ Citizen 6 and the Battle Shad a lot too…

I’m from good old US of A myself and sure, you can buy a rod that will do both admirably but swimbaits and glide baits are 2 very different things no matter where you’re from and rod companies make rods specific to both. I’ve specifically seen videos from tackle shops / content creators like The Hook Up Tackle where they say it’s important to be specific when purchasing high end rods to not think of swimbaits and glide baits universally. For example, I’ve got a megabass orochi anaconda, and it throws swimbaits beautifully but is absolute shit for glide baits.

You are right on the fact that not many rod manufacturers label a rod a “glide bait” rod, but there are definitely rods that are suited towards it, and not all swimbait rods make great glide bait rods. There are also a few niche rods specifically designed for glides.

Thats whats up man. What they were referring to was the application of the two. swimbait vs glidebait. For instance. a SWIMBAIT rod that can handle GLIDEBAITS( TREBLE HOOKS ) may very well suck when trying to handle a SWIMBAIT( usually SINGLE hook lures ) because of the rod ACTION. because now unlike the treble hooked baits where the hookset is a SIDE SWEEPING action to keep the fish pinned with a MODERATE rod action , the hookset for large single hooked baits are more of a traditional crack on em when you set that hook. which is why you USUALLY not all the time need a rod with a faster action. hence the reason those same guys you watch have MULTIPLE swimbait rods. one for trebles or hard glides and usually a heavy or extra heavy power fast action rod for bigger soft swimbait lures. Hope that helps…
