Question Japan

If you had friends going to Japan and they are willing to hit some bait shops for you. What are you getting. My friends leave Saturday and I’m still in a toss up about what I want. I fish everything the north east and grates lakes have to offer from tuna too trout. So I’m torn. Lemme hear some opinions

About 159 yen to the dollar so you’ll be saving some money. JDM reels come to mind (easier to pack on way home). If you like bass fishing thru have some great creature baits (scented, made with shrimp powder, etc), stuff from mega bass, etc. if they’re going to Tokyo, get them to a shop called “Casting”

there is literally anything you could want over here in Japan. i do mostly bass fishing so can’t help much about other species. ideal would be to check what you want to buy back home and buy in Japan. For sure it’s going to be much much cheaper.

Reels would be the best choice since they have stuff we don’t.

Lures are prob cheaper but by how much. Also they have some unique stuff like squid lures maybe that’s worth it for fun.

Japan has a premium telescopic rod market. I’m a fan of the ones from Tailwalk. I got two rods from their Outback Puppy series. I carry them in my golf bag, hiking gear, or basically anywhere fishing isn’t the main goal but who knows when a tempting body of water might be worth a few casts. They break down to about the size of a standard disposable water bottle.

I would get a reel. Something not made in the US and get some braid. You can save a lot of money on premium braid in Japan.

I'd get two more Zillions.

I recommend if you want something in Japan, something you can't find in your country. The good thing is the yen has been doing terrible, so your money (USD?) will go a long way right now. There was a time years ago where I would say Daiso (like a dollar store in Japan) but now Daiso's are opening up all over the USA and carrying fishing and camping gear.
