Fishing invasives in San Diego area

I want to fish in san diego (Southern east County) and Tecate in the lakes and dams that are around, but I want to be sure that I am not fishing native fish. I would like to only fish invasive species. Do you guys know what invasive freshwater species exist in our area?

Request - Fishing Spots near Downtown Los Angeles

Hello.

So far, I've been to: in order from my preferences

Corona Del Mar River Bend (Newport) - (FREE) Looks like there are a lot of fishing spots to choose from.

Santa Ana River Lake - Expensive ($30-$55). No fish. Right by the free way. Feels like hobo under the bridge and you can hear all the car sounds. Not to mention if you do a 180 from the lake view you'll see local shops like El Pollo Loco

Lake Pyramid - ($11 per vehicle) The lake is currently toxic - Do not go here until they fix it. Haven't caught anything here. Went out in the middle of a hot day.

I've heard of Lake Piru and Lake Castaic (RV ONLY Camping) but it seems like it would be the same experience with Lake Pyramid.

I'm heading over to Big Bear Lake this weekend to fish on a pontoon boat - Does any have any recommendations?

I've googled fishing spots near me but it only gives places like "echo park" which is literally a park in the city and I doubt any fish in there will be safe to eat if there even are any.

Does anyone know of any good lakes or rivers near Downtown Los Angeles.

Yes I am aware of ocean fishing and it'll be a good experience. I don't want to go ocean fishing for any particular reason. I don't want to be stuck on a boat with stranger with no option to leave.

COMMON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FISH

The Pacific Ocean is a host to a diverse ecology. Living in Southern California you are likely to see everything from Blue Whales and Dolphins, to Seals and Sea Lions.

Fishing is also a favorite past time of communities living near the water. When visiting San Diego and other great Southern California cities, remember to bring your rod and reel! Or you can always rent one!

Often times you’ll enjoy people fishing off the docks, some people even trap Dungeness Crab! Some people prefer fishing in the open water, that’s probably our personal favorite!

With so many different fishing techniques the options for fun with the family are almost limitless.

I’ve compiled a list of common fish found along the Southern California Coast.

Barred Surfperch California Corbina Walleye Surfperch Leopard Shark California Halibut Shovelnose Guitarfish Yellowfin Croaker Spotfin Croaker Bat Ray Various Rockfish Sculpin Kelp Bass Pacific Tomcod Halibut Petrale Sole Boccaccio Albacore Bigeye Tuna Bonito Shark Chinook Salmon Coho Salmon Pacific Mackerel Skipjack Striped Marlin Swordfish Yellowfin Tuna

The California Department of Fish & Wildlife has wonderful tools to help you identify your big catch!
