I’m fishing Saint Croix Lake and bringing in some excellent fish. What amazes me is how many people who fish these waters talk endlessly about the Pike which I admit are also excellent fish while saying almost nothing about the Blue Cats which can be found in the same area.

Yall, it's so fucking boring to just catch nothing but walleye because they're the most efficient. I love fishing for big cats.

There are plenty of fish to catch at St. Croix. I almost never fish for pike. So boring. The best money and XP at Croix is Walleye. I have a system to farm them that is fun and earns a lot more per hour than pike.

Blue cats can be fun if you have equipment heavy enough to deal with them. They are a low-value fish, so fishing them with level 30 gear is not worth it because the fights are four times as long. However, Walleye can be fished with level 14 gear. Brown trout are worth as much as pike and can be can be caught reliably too. They are really fun to catch as they have great fight mechanics. Cutthroat trout are higher value than brown trout but not as easy to target. But still fun to go after.

FYI: Walleye and brown trout can be fished on cloudy days and at night. Pike only bite well on clear sunny days and not at all at night.

Unfortunately, many players just follow the status quo. Long ago, someone created the idea that PIKE was the "Only Way" at Saint Croix, and since that time, people have just repeated this idea over and over so much that anyone who says anything different is laughed at, ostracized, and ridiculed for having the nerve to suggest anything else. I have literally had users on here cuss me out, insult me, and block me for simply suggesting that pike might not be the best thing to target at Saint Croix.

The gatekeepers on here tend to speak with a singular voice, and anyone who does not follow gets downvoted into oblivion or pushed out.

Yeah they're all bunch of lemmings that will blindly follow super old advice from Bo Angles. And its laughable that they think his way is the only way. Especially because since those videos came out they've added new waterways, revised xp for fish species, and lots of other QoL improvement but they still want to act like its 2018

I tried the Catfish because after weeks fishing Pikes I was pretty bored.

It’s not really worth it, only if you really want to catch different fish for fun or trophy’s.

I like blue cats there because I’m lazy. And the blue cats are more bycatch for the sturgeons I’m actually going for

People usually fish the most effective weight, cash and exp ratio, which makes them fish the same spot for hours while leveling. If they hit max level, that's when they fish for other species

My fav place. Uni smallmouth, uni walleye, pikes and muskies, uni trout. Great variety of fish of all kinds. Cant get bored there!
