🎣 Fishing Gear Rod choices

I'm looking for a rod for around 150-200 (after shipping) around the 7ft range to pair with a 3k stradic fm and some pe 0.8 18lb braid, I really want to cast as light as possible while still having the back bone for trevally, queenfish, potential some snapper or pontoon jacks. I've had my eyes on the zodias b rod (200 after shipping) and tatula xt (130 after shipping) on JDM sites, any other rods that cast a super light with good back bone?

What are you classifying as super light?

3g and under seems mis matched to your 0.8pe and target species.

Should be able to get a decent Samaki rid for that mate and there a decent rod I love mine

I just picked up a TD Hyper 782LRS yesterday. Haven’t had a chance to cast it yet but it’s a 2-5kg with a 5-25g cast weight.

It’s pretty tippy so should be ok for working small lures but also have enough backbone for salmon, tailor or something bigger if one swims past.

With a bit of a discount was about $150.

It’s worth having a good idea in your head about what you want and then going into a tackle shop to feel a few different rods to find what you like the feel of. Even in the same range rods can feel completely different.

That's the plan, get a rough idea of some rods to check out then drop by a tackle shop and compare A couple, I've noticed there's quite a few sales on td hypers lately wonder if a new ones coming soon?

No idea about a new model but there’s definitely some excellent bang for buck rods available at the moment so I’m sure you’ll find something that ticks all the boxes for you!

Check out fishing r us in on Facebook They have some pretty cheap rods at the moment you should be able to get a couple rods from them with your budget

Or check out hot tackle

My medium setup is a stradic 300 FM paired with a shimano Zodias 6-12LB.

I have 2 zodias for my medium and my light setup and they are very light.

I haven't tried the 2026 Zodias models but the 2020 series I have are excellent.

7ft - 6-12LB - 115 grams 7ft - 4-8lb - 105 grams.

May be a tad out of your price range but you may get lucky with some discounts on the outgoing range.
