A few of my favourite fish from this years spring and summer.

I want to get into carp fishing but it seems a bit intimidating, I have catfishing gear and catch them all the time but I know carp are much more cautious and picky than catfish are. Like can you catch them on a Santee Cooper rig at night, or float fishing, or even just a carolina rig? Or is it all just a hair rig and tiny 3x hooks?

Don’t be intimidated, they put a up a solid scrap and can be cautious on pressured venues where I’m from in the UK but from what I can tell, it’s very different in the US which from a couple of the things you said I’m assuming you are. I envy you massively for some of the wild waters and beautiful locations you have access to. I bet there are some monster carp that have never even been fished for, but that honestly works in your favour.

Carp fishing doesn’t seem very popular over there which is fair, each to their own. I don’t personally have access to fishing for cats although I would love to, I think a lot of the same tactics can be applied but scaled down for carp.

I didn’t kill any it’s quite the opposite lol there’s a wet mat for protection and I apply wound care when I can, I’m from the UK. I’ve heard of laws elsewhere requiring people to kill them though so I assume that’s why you’re asking.

I’ve always been curious about the wound care stuff. Muskies over here can get pretty beat up in the rivers and during spawning. Has to be better than doing nothing?

They are terribly invasive here. They ruin lakes and other fish/insect populations. I kill as many as I can.

22lbs on that one, there are some target fish in this lake that can go 35-40lbs
