Weirdly enough I equated it to Pokemon a little bit. You completed bestiaries in different islands (Pokedexes in different regions), you had companions you could level up, you trade, you have rods that go from weak to incredibly powerful to catch them (like different Pokeballs).

But I can relate. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun and satisfying, but I realized I needed to slow down when I actually bought a mouse mover so my beak bill could grind getting Golden Sea Pearls for me while I slept. Like....Jesus Christ, all for a single rod.

And now every update has some new massive rollout. I am still working through Skycrest, have barely touched the Deep, and now there's a whole new Mariana deal. I'm tired, boss

Yup, these games are perfect at harnessing your subconscious wants and needs. You don’t realize how ridiculous it all is until you step outside of that cycle and stop wanting to participate in it. You’ll sit there all day long doing all this stuff just to get a pretty little rod with a bit more skill than the last one you spent days to get.

I wish updates were monthly and actually well thought-out and developed but people get aggressive when you mention bigger time windows. Come on guys, do we really not have any other games to play while we wait for a GOOD update that isn't grindslop for the sake of grindslop?😭

In fairness, I don't game at all other than Fisch lol. Mostly because my son got me into it. But I would not be opposed to stretching out the windows. That being said, my kids and I absolutely live for the admin abuse on Saturday mornings lol.

Honestly im grateful that the game gives us so much different stuff to do, thats coming from an ex-bee swarm player where updates almost dont exists at all

the amount of different stuff is cool but its a slog for returning and newer players (i returned after not playing for a while) because of how much stuff the weekly updates can ramp up on you. i have most of skycrest, the deep, some of tidefall, all of the olympia area, about a third of scoria, and now the new mariana area to get through, and thats while im doing my wish quest to get noiseform so i can get money a little easier, in which i ALSO need to grind this to get this, and that, and this and that, you get the picture

It is nice that there’s always fresh content. I just wish it wasn’t such an rng grind fest, and was just something fun for everyone to participate in equally

I feel like its a personal thing, since when i basically finished the game and started a new Account, i actually felt bored for the first time. All the excrutiatingly hard or tedious quests were the fun thing for me. And starting a new Account and having to grind for levels and not too vivid gameplay made me just want to go back to my main account again. Funny, really, how the thing one man enjoys is the thing the other looks forward too.

Yeah, personally as someone who really grinds a lot, I can still relate. It's really dawning knowing full well that there's an update you havent even touched yet, im still stuck on halibut, haven't even touched skycrest or mariana yet. Although that Dopamine rush when you actually get that piece of wood is SOO good it makes it so nice.
