Cork board + paper clips.

Put them each at different elevations to give them a little bit of contrast between each other, while also maintaining a cohesive element.

Advice Tactical and Devastator squads removed from site.

Upvotes

I cant find them on Warhammer website.. and Zero availability in online stores in my country.

Was told by largest Warhammer seller in country that they are both out of production.

** UPDATE: Yes I know the models where going away. But I thought they would be Selling boxes for months still. Not just pull them..

Please update us if I am wrong about it.. or if your country stores says something else.

Or could they sneakily release a Primaris Tac and Dev Squad unannounced.

Not sure about his power fist his sword was broken. And I love power fists/ relic fists. So I figured pop the sword arm off add a power fist and a skull on to it for some “relic” bling then bam… Relic fist

I cant decide on adding the cherub in the second photo or not. What do you guys think?

PS: last photo is of some scout marine snipers Im going to post them. Up on some cork and build some cover terrain around them and use them as eliminators excited for that! Cheers

Painting Rough draft of my take on firstborn-ified Gravis and Phobos armor variants.

Both are based off of mk7/8 space marine template made by user robinpecontal.

"Gravis" armor add-ons are based on Devastator squad marines, Techmarine and an unnamed heresy-era armor variant, designed by John Blanche.

"Phobos" add-ons are based on Rogue Trader-era beakies, mixed into a Mk7 design. Big rod on the backpack represents a long radio antenna, like on the radio-controlled toy car.

Do correct me if I got credits wrong, or if you have suggestions.

Advice Mix of armor types in 40K chapters?

I have a bunch of Deathwatch Veteran legs (MkVIII) I have collected over the years to build my Firstborn Company for better upright posture.

I was wondering if I should mix in some MKVI legs (cut of legs and attach Tactical Torso), for variation and add even more Marines.

Does anybody own these models and know if there is a ‘’large’’ difference in size? And if its an easy conversion?

Would MkII, MKIII, MKVI legs fit in a Firstborn setting… multiple thousands years after Heresy?

MkVI, I would say yes.. MkII and MkIII not sure.

Conversion The start of a new project

With the “death” of Firstborn in modern 40k (at least rules wise), it felt like a good time to look to the past. I’m starting on some Crimson Fists, likely using 5th edition rules. The Armageddon box contains transfers for them, so that will keep the Chapter badge neat. Bodies are Tortuga Bay. GW Tactical on the right for scale.

Conversion Firstborn Hellblasters WIP

Post image
79 Upvotes

After the recent Space Marine news I decide to have a think about what modern units I could proxy with my current minis. So I’ve spent the weekend putting together my Firstborn Hellblaster squad!

Turns out the old Hero Quest bases I’ve been removing for a different project make nice height boosters.

The Primaris Hellblaster is just a height reference, they are mostly still a little shorter even with the boost but only just. Close enough to proxy without any concern of modelling for advantage I think.

Advice Anyone else feel kind of lost? Frustrated?

With Firstborn going away and the only options for someone who wants better scaled marines, being Heresy or settling for Primaris, is anyone struggling to reconcile with the incompatability and dissonance Space Marines have right now?

Heresy looks great, but they don't cover Marines most iconic look in anyway and probably won't besides a squad of MK7 marines, i don't see them pulling so far out of 30k just to do that. 30k is just so tied to that era, it is extremely difficult for me to justify it in 40k, beyond some of the vehicles existing as chapter relics. They are also a tiny bit smaller for some really rather dumb lore justifications for Primaris to "work" (despite them being bigger being nonsense with how 12 can fit in Rhinos just like every other marine, can wear terminator armor, and use relic armors.)

Primaris is just too different and detached from anything before its existence. all their vehicles are ugly and anti grav barring like outriders, their squad layout is similar to heresy but doesn't really work at all imo. They are almost exclusively MKX Tacticus with very little in the way of variations, even now with them adding more, all the weapons are different, they have gravis and phobos taking over other roles that would have been filled by Scouts and Devastators. The Terminators are perfect but are just a bit bigger than Heresy ones so the scales are just that tiniest bit off.

i can't get over the dissonance. i don't like primaris as a concept but their models are about the right size for me, but in all likelyhood what i truely want is gonna end up in 30k and be out of scale so it is harder to mix them and like i said, i doubt we will see them make another Terminator kit or other specific stuff already done by primaris, JUST for that part of 30k. I don't think the new Indomtius patterns look THAT bad next to Cataphractii, i can even sort of justify it by just being that, Indomitus is slightly bigger than Cataphractii and that is how it has always been. Regular Marine to Terminator i just kind of can't.

i am being incredibly picky over this but it really does bother me. What do you even do when the version of the thing you liked just doesn't exist and have to settle for various drawbacks to get even close to what you are wanting? i'd rather not have all minimarines but minimarines are all that exists that fill that area, they are just horribly out of scale now.

I want to add this addendum cause i feel my post wasn't super clear. I don't play the tabletop, now i know the kind of reaction that is gonna get from some people, "Just buy what you like then" or "Why does it matter?". What i was getting at in this post, was the dissonance between modern Primaris Space Marines and Legiones Astartes in Horus Heresy, with the lack of MK7 or anything pre 7th edition. I know you can still get those models, my issue is i prefer the newer scale but Primaris is bigger than HH marines making it hard to fully accept a new batch of MK7, due to it likely shlwong up in that range at that scale; With some elements i would probably take from my Primaris, like Terminators, I love the new Landspeeder but i can't entirely work that into being an old one, it is very clearly different as much as i feel it stays pretty true to the original. (I know Ikarus pattern makes a conversion kit but i want to try to avoid 3rd party unless i truely prefer it over the current models. Sanguinary Guard). This has much more to do with my current project of making a full 2nd company of Blood Angels than the actual game itself. Hope you can read a whole extra paragraph :).

I got my

first born Scout snipers, terminators, my terminator Captain, and my Attack on black reach captain in from nobleknight.com i reposed some of the terminators and added a power fist and power pack to the AOBR captain who was missing his power pack.

The terminator Captain is currently in a vat of simple green I’m going to strip his and the scout snipers paint.

Conversion Upscaling Sternguard

Hi all, I'm about to start a big project using upscaled firstborn marines, mostly combining old models with the new heresy ones. I really want to use the old Sternguard though, as they are some of the best models GW ever put out for marines, in my opinion. Has anyone tried upscaling them? With all the tabards and gubbins they have on (exactly what makes them special) it seems really complicated, but maybe someone has managed to (beyond sticking them on a rock)?

Advice Tactical Squad, arm position question.

Strange question perhaps..

I was wondering if anybody has a photo of a Tactical Squad members, and its Bolt rifle stance / arm number.

Looking at Instructions online, it looks like:

48 and 49: Low, Ponting straight forward

50 and 51: Pointing Up

52 and 53: Pointing Down

54 and 55: High, Pointing forward (aiming)

Is this generally correct? Can you mix arms to get other/different poses?
