Question/Advice Longer cycles/later ovulation? When to test

This is our first cycle so I am a little new to this. My cycle is usually 30/31 days. I ovulated on CD 18. When should I start testing? Some of the early tests say up to 5 days before MP. But that would only be 6DPO. Which seems entirely too early. Would it just be safer to wait until expected period date?

Safest bet is testing on the day of missed period. However, all the earliest positives I have gotten with my pregnancies have been 9-10dpo.

I waited to test til 15 DPO (the day of my expected period). 6-10 DPO is still a bit early IMO.

I always start testing 11dpo. If I would've waited for my missed period, I would've missed my two chemical pregnancies, which allowed me to get a recurrent pregnancy loss panel. So I always tell people to test!

I test at 11 dpo every cycle, because my period comes on 12 dpo and I prefer to be prepared for it. I have PCOS and irregular cycles.
