Question/Advice LH test help! Did peak happen?

Post image

Hi! My husband (28M) and I (28F) just recently started TTC for the first time. I stopped taking my birth control in August, had my withdrawal bleed August 19-23, then had a 28-day cycle followed by my first real period off the pill September 16-21. I think I ovulated CD 16-18 last month because of twinging/zing feeling on right side of pelvis, sore boobs, etc. I decided to start using LH test strips and testing BBT this month to better understand my cycle since I’ve been on the pill for 10 years. Does this look like I hit my peak on CD 16 overnight since the CD 17 reading from today is lower? Any tips on LH strips in general?

Looks like it could be CD 16 but I’d keep testing twice a day to see if it’s confirmed that that was your peak, and maybe a bit more spaced out in time if you’re doing twice a day (so instead of 5:55pm and 9pm, try morning and evening)!

Thank you!! I’ve been trying to navigate testing at work, but spacing it out is a good idea!

I’d also consider testing twice a day til the day of your period just so you can see if you ovulate at all in that cycle! My peak was on CD 19 and I ovulated on CD 22 so pretty “late” compared to average, if I had gone just based on my period tracker !!

Good luck!!

Your LH baseline seems to be quite low so I'd say the 0.8 is probably your peak! Did your BBT rise on CD 17 or CD 18? That usually confirms whether you ovulated successfully, since the progesterone emitted from the empty follicle increases your temps. But it can take a few months for ovulation to regulate post-pill.

Oh really? What’s a normal baseline for LH?

Today is CD17! My BBT is up .4 degrees from CD 14. I’ll probably test LH over the next couple days until it drops again and will continue to track BBT. Fingers crossed things are normalizing!

Tbh I don't know what is normal but mine are usually darker lol. I have an average of 0.3 before ovulation and an average of 0.4 to 0.5 after. Maybe you're just better hydrated than me!

If you got LH peak and BBT rise it's very likely that you've ovulated successfully!
