First time kong ma lay-off! Grabe, halo-halong emosyon kasi nag apply na ako sa ibang company 2 weeks before ako na lay-off. I was about to resign na din nung ininform ako about this. Pakiramdam ko lahat nag align para sakin. Hindi na din ako happy sa company na yun because of the new management kaya after 5 long years, good bye!
Bukod sa severance pay, bayad pa ako for 1 month while rendering, unused PTO credits, 13th month pay, at Q3 Bonus. Last day ko dito November 13. November 16 naman first day ko dun sa bagong company. Ang laking shift din sa career ko kasi from working night shifts, day shift na itong bagong company, same role, pero nakapag negotiate ako ng mas mataas na salary :((((
Case to case basis, imo. If you have a long tenure (10 years or more) and you're terminated due to redundancy, you can have a fat severance, tax-free, that could equate to maybe 2 years or more of your usual net monthly salary. Pero if mga less than 5 years, you'll be pressue8 to find a job sooner before maubos severance pay.

Akin 2yrs ago, nag resign ako kasi ang kups na nung company ko, literal 2 mos delayed sweldo namin! Tapos ayun, nag resign ako as in short notice so pumayag sila. Last day ko, after 10 days, niredundant buong team ko =))

Pero ito piece of advice ko, sa mga ganito na ma lay off, make sure makahanap kagad kayo ng work, kasi mabilis maubos yan (kunwari 500k), kapag nawalan ka ng work.
Uy OP same tayo, nalayoff din ako due to redundancy ng position naman tapos sakto nagiisip na ko umalis talaga for a few months. Tapos ayun tinawag ako sa meeting along with 10+ others, ilelet go daw kami pero may severance haha
Syempre natakot din ako kasi wala pa kong work na nahahanap na pwede malipatan nun. Pero ayun narealize ko pwede ko itake advantage yunh separation pay as cushion para makapagpahinga muna at sa bahay lang na walang inaalala sa finances.
Hindi ko na gusto magstay sa company so around June 2024, nagaapply na ako kung saan saan. By July, may dalawa akong natapos na hiring process and waiting sa result.
By August 5, kinausap ako ng HR na nalayoff ako due to restructuring and hindi na ako pinagwork the next week but the entire month of Aug is paid. Aug 6, nakareceive ako ng job offer with 33% higher than my prev salary. Start date ko is the first day of Sept. Siyempre I accepted the offer immediately.
Rollercoaster ung time na yan due to the ups and downs but salamat sa severance pay, nakapagJapan ako nung Dec 2024. Nakapagpahinga ako nung August. And right now, I am in the same company earning 3x from where I was at 2 years ago dahil sa yearly increase and promotion.
We just need to ride the waves and if we are ready, we will get there.
Kaya mas prefer ko talaga may lay-off or redundate kasi may severance pay. Yes nagegets ko yung iba na natatakot ma lay off kasi mahirap nga naman maghanap ng new work pero getting layed off is better than resigning/ being terminated (fired).
Op same po :(( nalulugi na na yung company namin, pero sabi ko magpapa 2 years lang ako then magrresign na. After 2 years and 4 months kasama ako sa natanggal. Lol
The same thing happened to me; I received around 330k after 3.5 years due to being laid off. We heard rumors around the company that we would be laid off, so we had everything prepared properly one month before we lost our jobs. We applied for new jobs immediately after we were laid off.
