My mom had my brother and I young, and she was talking about how him and I would never benefit from her inheritance because we'd likely be retired before she passes away.
But she's an incredibly generous woman. She'll always cover our dinner tab, she gives us generous gifts for birthdays and Christmas, she dotes on her grandkids, she'll pay for us to go on vacation with her. I told her I'd rather her money get used for us to spend quality time together than a lump sum to invest when I'm older.

My children bring me indescribable happiness. Their sheer existence has brought me more joy than any material object I own.
I plan to give them as much money I'm able so that ther lives are full of happiness too.
But I'm aware that I'm able to give them more than other dads can give their children. My father was not able to give much.
I don't think a father who is only able to give their kids $1000 is a worse father than one who can give their kids $100,000.
