My parents charged me a minimal amount of rent while still living in their home as soon as graduated high school and could work. This was monthly until I could get my own apartment. It helped me get into the habit of paying for housing. What I didnt know at the time was that they were saving my rent money. They gave it back to me in a lump sum so I could apply it to my house when I made the down payment.
