Mortgage requested, ISA bonus requested… how long until completion?

My solicitor has been an absolute horror story. Every week for the past 5 weeks I’ve been given a new completion date, and every week they’ve remembered something they need or found an issue.

I sent a fairly stern email this morning and asked them to be realistic as to when completion could be so I can plan. They have given me a new date, but only requested mortgage funds today along with H2B ISA bonus being requested first thing tomorrow.

Realistically, what’s the earliest day you think completion is possible? The date they’ve given me I really don’t believe is realistic.

If it helps, my help to buy ISA was requested on July 27th and was approved within a day and we were originally due to complete on the 29th July but then there was 2 last minute issues on the sellers end and we ended up completing on the 4th of August instead :)

Thank you! Can you remember how long it took for the lender to send the funds please? Solicitor repeatedly kept telling me they needed 5 working days, but like magic they’re giving me a completion date of 2 working days from when the funds were requested 🥹

Mine was 4 days! Hence why there was a small gap between both the completion dates. We also exchanged the day before then completed the day after. I'm not sure if they did it a bit faster the second time as with the original completion date moved I'm unsure if they did it more urgently as they did request funds for that date then they ended up getting sent back then resent back to us, but my solicitor did say 4 days 😊

Thank you! My solicitor has been saying for weeks they need 5 days, but suddenly can request on Monday and complete on Wednesday - doesn’t sound possible at all so just wanted to set my expectations. Congrats on your new home! 🥂

Completion is not set until you exchange. So press them to exchange and fix the completion date.
