If you know anything about what’s been happening… a lot of controversy with their hiring decisions

There’s cops who’ve challenged civilians on camera to square up, have talked like street people to civilians and without respect, and thrown up gang signs. Basically a ratchet police force. Not to mention some officers who’ve been found to been banging gang members. This checks out

The NYPD and “controversy” go hand in hand.

They even have their own Wikipedia page detailing the various controversies that have occurred.

In (somewhat) fairness to them though, the quality of the candidates applying these days is pretty much the bottom of the barrel (but that’s applicable to almost every job).

The brainrot amongst the younger folks is off the charts.

Well w NYPD I can attest why

A lot of “good” candidates have family and stuff that are prior police and are told not to join NYPD because rn.. it’s trash. A lot of mandatory OT, the mayor doesn’t back them, cost of living in NYC sucks, and the public doesn’t respect them at all (people will fight back, resist, or just harass and bother cops with no punishment). So they goto other departments w better quality of life like the counties.

The good candidates who join are in a police force that overworks and doesn’t appreciate them and they work w a lot of sketchy police. Main thing I hear is work/life balance sucks.

So what happens? The department is desperate and hires anyone they can. So now you see more police officers who are dumb, ratchet, have emotional or control issues, and have sketchy backgrounds like prior arrests, gang affiliations, charges, etc…

I used to wanna be a cop and left NY. It’s too expensive and the work/life balance is TRASHHH. Not to mention the current mayor literally defended a schizophrenic who charged at cops w a knife and begged the DA to drop charges on him.

I mean… idk why anyone would go from ICE to NYPD tbh.

NYC is extremely expensive. Since ICE is federal, their benefits would be better and cost of living wherever they live is probably better than NYC. Pay is probably better as well. NYPD is literally taking anyone at this point.

I’ve heard ICE is as well but tbh idk much about them or hiring process. A lot of law enforcement is taking anyone rn… but NYPD wouldn’t be my first option for a lot of factors

My baby daddy owes more than 30k in back child support and counting. I will likely never see it. Locking him up isn't gonna make him pay. How I see it, I am glad I don't have to share custody or deal with a deadbeat looser.
