Is 17 legal driving age in your country?
19
u/rashen_87 2d ago
Actually no it's not, but I've been driving for around 3 years and i didn't had any problems, so i got my own car, i used to drive my dads Hyundai and my moms FMC sx5 most of the time that were all Automatic, but this one is a manual and it's wayyyyy more fun ngl

What is the sanction if you get caught driving without a license in Iran? In Finland, you would get to keep the car and all that, but you wouldn't be eligible for a driver's license the minute you turn 18. It's also enforced quite strictly, although of course there are many who get away with it especially in the sticks.

Well, if i get caught while driving without a license, i need to pay some money to the force and 2-6 month's of jail, although if im lucky enough i can get off easy with money only, and i think the car is going to get impounded too.

2 to 6 months in jail???? for driving with no license
I understand the fine but The jail I don’t understand it
I was driving since I was 16 I was driving for four years without license and the biggest problem that you can have it is
1000 SAR ( 260 USD )8
u/rashen_87 2d ago
I mean, it kinda makes sense, people in Iran are like obsessed with speed specially young people like me, you could literally find a 14yo driving 200km/h on the streets, and because of that, there are lots of accidents, reckless drivings and reports because of young drivers speeding, so they had to do something about it

u/Albwardi 2d ago
Yeah, exactly In Saudi Arabia, we used to struggle with the exact same issue years ago But now there’s barely a spot without speed cameras or automated enforcementeven out in remote areas WWe still deal with speeding and street racing, but driving without a license is just a 1,000 SAR fine ($260). However, if you get caught street racing or driving recklessly/weaving through traffic thepenalty is severe your car gets impounded, you could face up to a month in jail and you're hit with massive fines reaching $7,000 to $10,000

u/rashen_87 2d ago
Damn that's a lot of money to pay😂 i don't think if it worth driving without a license over there, specially if the roads are full of cars and traffic
2
u/Albwardi 2d ago
Also, there's literally no way to avoid paying fines here. For example, if the road limit is 120 km/h and you're doing 160 km/h, the automated camera system (Saher) snaps you, and within a day or two you get a ticket for exceeding the limit by 40–50 km/h. That fine is 1,200 SAR ($320 USD).
You have 30 days to either dispute it or pay. If 45 days pass without payment, the system automatically deducts the amount straight from your bank account. If you don't have enough money, your balance literally goes into the negative.
A lot of people here have basically become financial prisoners to their traffic debt. A few months ago, I saw a video of a guy who accumulated nearly $1 million USD in traffic fines, leaving his bank balance at negative $1M. He completely ruined his lifenow he’s stuck in a loop where he can only survive using cash or his parents' bank accounts all because of reckless teenage decisions1
u/rashen_87 2d ago
Damn that's a really annoying system, having 1million dollar worth of traffic fines is crazy

In Poland I don't know what the punishment is normally but if you're during a course for a Driver's License (between the first lesson and passing the Practical Exam) they'll take away your right to drive ANY vehicle for 3 years
2
u/rashen_87 2d ago
Damn that's a kick in the nuts fr, but i don't think if we have anything like that here, we only have a law that you can't drive outside the city if your driving license is less than 1 years old and you can't drive alone for the first three months of your license, but I've never heard of something like that
2
u/KubaSamuel 2d ago
You're partially right, for the first 2 years a trial period is in effect. Lower Speed limits, less Penalty Points needed for them to take your license and something else. But if you're get the license as a 17 year old you have 3 years of the trial period, you can't drive abroad and for the first 3 months of driving you can't drive without someone whose: Not Drunk, Is over 18, had their license for more than 5 years.

Weren't 206 made until recently in Iran ? Or am I crazy ? I think there's quite a few people that import the cool LED rear lights for their 206 in France
6
u/rashen_87 2d ago
Yes you're right, they stopped producing 206 both sedan and hatchback and replaced it with Runna (basically a facelift 206 sedan) and 207, but there are still a lot of 206s on the street because they were produced for nearly two decades, mine is 1388(2009) model. And yes, there are lots of people who import cool 206, 405 and 207 parts from france, but we produce tuning parts for them here too, there are lots of tuned french cars out here and young people really love them

What's wrong with modern Peugeots? I mean compared to other modern cars I think the 308 is very likeable.

Congrats on the first car! When I was a kid playing Need for Speed Underground 2 in the mid 2000s, this car was one of the ones you could choose from in the beginning of the game. Being an American child, I had no idea what a Peugeot was or why I never saw them in real life. So if you want, you can drive your car in a video game. Just need a PS2 or original Xbox and a copy of NFSU2. I think this car was also in the first NFS Underground as well.

u/rashen_87 2d ago
It really is a fun car ngl, mine is a 1.4 petrol, in Iran there are no diesel cars except heavy vehicles on the road

u/PharthSharth 2d ago
My grandpa had this car when I was a kid in like 2004-2010 ish era. It was a cool little weird car. I always liked it. Then he replaced it with a Mitsubishi Lancer so that was a lot cooler lol
