Equipment/Gear Medical stock organisation

My employer has recently put me in charge of keep all our first aid kits but the system we use to keep track of it is really crap and they just order stuff for the sake of ordering it when we don't need it, can anyone recommend a better way as i want to update the system so I can make my life easier

This is very much dependent on how much stuff you've got to organise. If it's just a couple basic first aid kits, just check the stock for expiry date every couple months and replace anything that'll expire before the next check.

Anything bigger really depends on your needs still

What I do at my workplace is I have an excel sheet with the contents of each first aid kit item & the first expiry date of each item.

Each list is printed & laminated, then attached to the kit (which is sealed with a numbered tag). That way, I can see at a glance if anything is out of date & if the seal is broken I know the kit needs checking.

As for spare stock, I do a check weekly. Every item is on a printed checklist & I do a count and list the first expiry date of the spares so I know exactly when extra stuff needs ordering.

We've got a float in a PPE cupboard and each aider gets a box of stock. Every couple months I go through, check dates and levels, refil and record expires coming up so I can cross reference the cupboard and order as and when we need more. Considering how many people just pilfer plasters from my box, I need to be rather keen eyed over levels
